The vedas are the oldest religious texts and literature in India. These vedas are the source of culture and religion of Indian civilization. The vedas are the only book which contains social knowledge, rituals, spiritual consciousness, truthfulness, unity and non-violence.It also considered as literature, scripture and philosophy to Indians. With the help of these vedas Indian Social culture has been able to get the best seats in the world assembly. TheAryan sages did not stop working for the sake of desire only, they always tried to search pure knowledge. That society was enlightened with the teachings of the Aryan sages. The teaching was pure and also not followed by superstition. When we discuss their devotional verses, we see various and varied streams of thought and knowledge. Although the society was patriarchal, the spread of education was not limited. Both men and women are encouraged to take education. So the discussion on the education system of women in that Rigvedic period is the subject of my reference.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer in many developed countries. Its prevalence is about 6% worldwide and the number of cases, presently estimated at more than 150 million, is predicted to be doubled by 2025. Therefore, the demand for safe and effective drugs for the treatment of DM is on the rise. Present study was carried out to evaluate hypoglycemic effect of rhizome of Pakhanbed, in experimental animals. The study was carried out in Wistar rats of 5 groups of 10 animals each. Group I was served as plain control. After overnight fasting groups II, III, IV and V were injected single dose of Streptozotocin (50mg/kg, i.p.). Group II was kept as negative control. Groups III, IV were given extract of Pakhanbed 120.75mg and 241.5mg/kg respectively. Blood samples were taken on 0th, 10th, 28th, and 56th days. The effect of test drug was observed on body weight, fasting blood glucose (FBG), postprandial blood glucose (PBG), urine output, urine sugar and compared with standard (group V), Glibenclamide (600?g/kg). Hydroalcoholic extract of test drug demonstrated significant increase in body weight of groups III, IV and V. On 28th day FBG, PBG were reduced significantly in group III (p<0.05) and group IV( p<0.1), and on 56th day the reducing FBG and PBG were strongly significant in group IV (p<0.01). Percentage decreases in urine output and urine sugar were found significant. On the basis of above finding it can be concluded the test drug possesses significant hypoglycemic effect

Objectives. Antifertility and reproductive activities of Aristolochia indica in rats. Methods. The antifertility activity of the extracts of Aristolochia Indica in rats was evaluated using two experimental animal models. Anti-implantation and early abortifacient activity was performed in female Wistar rats by determining the number of implantations and implantation resorptions. Results. In estrogenic activity evaluations, the ethanolic and aqueous extracts offered significant estrogen-like activity at 200?mg?kg?1 p.o. by increasing the uterine weight compared to vehicle control group. Ethanolic extract (200?mg?kg?1, p.o.) treatment significantly decreased the number of implants and increased the number of resorptions compared to vehicle control group. Conclusion. The results of the present study provide the evidence of the anti-fertility activity and reproductive outcomes of Aristolochia indica as claimed in the traditional use. The results are consistent with the literature reports related to the antifertility effect of flower extracts of Aristolochia Indica.
