 Abstract

There is an increasing trend to use products manufactured from the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics or Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composites in the industry like aerospace, automotive, sports, medical, renewable energy etc. It is because of the lighter weight, higher strength, hence, higher strength-to-weight ratio of these materials, their higher corrosion resistance, higher fatigue resistance etc. Manufacturing of products from CFRP composites need precise machining, including cutting. Cutting of these materials is very difficult and inefficient with non-laser traditional techniques. Using continuous wave (cw) or pulsed fiber lasers solves many of these limitations of cutting CFRP composites. These processes have been optimized by many researchers for reducing the heat affected zones (HAZ) by optimizing the laser parameters like its power, pulse duration, feeding speed etc. Finally the environmental hazards of laser-based cutting of CFRP composites and the safety measures are also discussed in this paper.

 Abstract

The development of MEMS has been driven by the need for miniaturization and lowering the overall manufacturing cost. The field of MEMS is concerned with the development of integrated systems of sensors, actuators and associated electronics. Even though the electronics industry provides an economy of scale for the silicon industry, crystalline silicon is still a complex and relatively expensive material to produce. The development of polymer micromachining technologies that complement traditional silicon approaches has enabled the broadening of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) applications. Polymeric Bio-MEMS (Biomedical Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) have great potential in their current and future applications which include genomics, proteomics, molecular diagnostics, point-of-care diagnostics, tissue engineering, single cell analysis and implantable micro-devices. The polymeric materials are very fragile and not rigid which restrict their manufacturing processes. To minimize many such problems, excimer lasers and femtosecond lasers have been used for the precise micromachining of Bio-MEMS, the details of which are discussed in this paper.

 Abstract

The political party in power tries to follow policies to encounter adverse effects of second job holding (moonlighting) prior to elections for vote maximization. This tendency is accountable for formation of Political Business Cycle of Moonlighting. This paper is aimed to examine whether the dynamic behavior of moonlighting growth is influenced by political decisions and thereby form Political Business Cycle of Moonlighting in Slovenia. By estimating time trends for regimes between two election periods of the National Assembly in terms of spline functions, this paper shows empirically that there is no evidence of change in moonlighting growth rate between the two election periods in Slovenia. Therefore, it is concluded that there is complete absence of political cycles of moonlighting in Slovenia.

 Abstract

4H-1,4-Benzothiazines constitute an important class of heterocycles containing 1,4-thiazine ring fused to benzene. As a part of an ongoing programe in the development of novel synthetic methodology for the preparation of biologically active substances, we had been interested in the synthesis of various thiazine ring containing heterocyclic structures because they are the integral part of many naturally occurring and biologically active compounds.

 Abstract

Pollen contain all the essential nutrients required for growth and development of honeybees. In most pollen carbohydrates and proteins constitute the major dry matter. Crailsheim (1991) has reported that the adult worker honeybees feed upon pollen produce royal jelly for the queen bees, the brood, the drone and the adult workers of different age. Various workers have emphasized upon the importance of amino acids in insects both in feeding and their development (Doull and Standifer,1970;Fields et al.,1998).Amino acids are also reported to act as phagostimulants to certain insects (Allosp,1992).Amino acids are important constituents of pollen, which are said to determine the nutritive value pollens for honeybees. Serra Bonvehl et al.,(1986) reported the mean contents of free amino acid as 37.25mg/g. McCaughey et al., (1980)reported that glutamic acid, aspartic acid and proline as the dominant amino acid

 Abstract

The state of Kerala has always represented human development and has been a pioneer in health and education for the other states in India. Though having a Per Capita Income which is approximately 1.6 times the national average, the state has often been criticized as being a laggard in production -both in agriculture and manufacturing. Agriculture is the backbone of any economy and the base for food security. However, the share of agriculture and allied activities in GSDP declined from approximately 56% in 1960-61 to around 10.38% in 2015-16[Economic Review-2016] . Kerala has always been a food deficit state, recording a gap between demand and production of its staple food, i.e., rice. This gap has widened- from 50% in 1960-61 to more than 85% by 2014[Down To Earth]. Whereas population in Kerala doubled between the period 1971 and 2020-, production of paddy was reduced to less than half. Climate disasters like floods and landslides have further worsened the food security scenario.

 Abstract

In recent years, international trade is growing at a very fast rate. It involves all commercial activities that cross national boundaries. International trade refers to exchange of goods and services, investment across borders of countries. International trade is concerned with trade in goods and services, inflow and outflow of foreign investment, cross border transactions in intellectual property and technology, international outsourcing etc. It has grown at fast speed due to globalization. International trade has significant effect on daily lives. In adepartmental store, we find product from Japan, Taiwan and China; clothing from China, Hong Kong and India. On the roads, we find automobiles fromJapan, Germany, Korea, America using oil from Iran, Iraq, Soudi Arabia and Kuwait. We used to enjoying these product from distant lands and we forget that these products have come through the complex network of international trade. With the growth of international trade, the various nations of the world are becoming the part of same global village. Policy of globalization adopted by various nations is promoting the scope of international trade.

 Abstract

Insurance sector in India has undergone significant changes during the last decade. There have been new institutions, instruments and new opportunities, along with all this new changes in traditional face of insurance. The Life Insurance business showed a rapid growth throughout the country during the last decade. The economic scenario in our country is rapidly changing. High quality products with quality support services both in terms of international standards and competitiveness have entered into our country. As a result, the life insurance sector has experienced a stiff competition. Earlier Indians viewed life insurance as savings and investment tool rather than risk coverage. But, now it is also considered as a tax saving instrument, planning for specific future family needs, security against loans and avenues for high returns with limited risks. In India, the life insurance sector supports a lot for the development of the economy as a whole. Life insurance is a long-term business with a focus on long-term financial solutions to customers. The core objective of the study is to understand the awareness and preference level of policyholders about Life Insurance Service. This study based on both primary and secondary data and the researcher has chosen the sample size of 200 on the basis of convenience sampling technique and the sample respondents are selected school teachers in Madurai District. The school teachers have well aware about the life insurance schemes selection and prefer mostly the tax benefits life insurance schemes in the study area.

 Abstract

The banking sector plays a major role in the development of the economy, as it mobilizes deposits and provides credit to various sectors across India. In India, the banking sector collects surplus funds from customers/depositors in the form of deposits and channelizes them to borrowers in the form of loans. Job satisfaction is a psychological phenomenon which explains the state of mind of the workers related to their job. Psychological mental state of the workers in relation to their job may be positive or negative. While a set of workers in any organization have positive job satisfaction, others may have negative job satisfaction in their job. Therefore, in every organization there are workers with positive and negative job satisfaction. . The objective of the study is to identify the level of job satisfaction among private sector employees in Chennai City. This based on both primary and secondary data and Simple random sampling technique was employed in the study, in order to remove any possible bias creeping in to the study, considering the small sample size of 120. From the study findings are: most of them working in the private sectors banks because of private banks are providing high pay and promotion in their career. It concludes that for those individuals with high expectation, there must be enough challenges available in their job, for them to derive satisfaction, and if this criterion is not met, it leads to them being dissatisfied with their job.

 Abstract

Mutual funds are Financial Intermediaries concerned with mobilising savings of those who have surplus income and channelisation of these savings in those avenues where there is demand of funds. These institutions employ their resources in such a manner as to afford for their investors the combined benefits of low risk, steady return, high liquidity and capital appreciation through diversification and expert management. By playing the role of financial intermediation mutual funds provide a convenient and effective link between savings and investment. Well managed mutual funds would be mutually beneficial arrangement. While, on the one hand, they help the investing community by offering share of corporate growth, on the other they have a salutary impact on the stock markets. By blending caution with aggression and analysis with intuition, the funds can successfully convert market opportunities into lucrative returns for the investors.
