Social media has emerged as powerful force transforming the Indian Political system. Social media platforms such as Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp have become important arenas for political communication, electoral campaigning, public opinion formation, political mobilisation, and citizen participation. This paper examines how social media is transforming the Indian political system, with particular attention to political communication, electoral behaviour, democratic participation, party organisation, political polarisation, misinformation, and institutional regulation. The study is based on a qualitative and analytical review of secondary sources, including scholarly literature, institutional reports, election-related studies, and policy discussions.
