  Abstract

Work-life balance is essential for maintaining psychological well-being and overall quality of life. However, in today's fast- paced and demanding work environments, achieving this work life balance is become increasingly challenging. Work-life imbalance has emerged as a significant issue in today's fast-paced professional world. Work-life imbalance is a state where an individual struggles to effectively manage the demands of their work life and personal life, leading to a disproportionate amount of time and energy being dedicated to one at the expense of the other. Work-life imbalance can significantly impact mental health, leading to stress, anxiety, depression and burnout. The failure to establish a sustainable boundary between personal and professional life often leads to adverse mental health outcomes, increased burnout among employees and reduce productivity. This paper explores the impact of work-life imbalance on individual's mental health and burnout, drawing upon recent studies and secondary data analysis. It explores the contributing factors, including long working hour's unrealistic performance expectations, lack of autonomy, and inadequate support systems at both workplace and home. The paper further investigates the organizational impact of employee burnout, including decreased productivity, high turnover rates, absenteeism and increased healthcare costs. Preventative and remedial strategies are discussed, emphasizing the role of organizational polices, leadership behavior, flexible work arrangements, mental health resource, and the cultivation of a supportive work culture. Findings suggest a strong correlation between poor work-life balance and symptoms of anxiety, depression, emotional exhaustion, and reduced job performance. The study emphasizes the urgent need for organizational and individual strategies to promote healthier work-life integration.
