Abstract
The paper discusses Jeanette Winterson book, Written on the Body, using the post-structuralist, feminist and queer theoretical approaches and the radical approaches to gender, identity, and corporeality within the novel. Winterson interrupts the binary constructions by which the male and female identities are traditionally structured in the Western discourse by not telling the gender of the narrator. The ungendered narrative voice is interrogative to the established concepts of sexuality and subjectivity, presupposing identity to be fluid, relational and performative. Basing the analysis on post-structuralist concept of linguistic instability and deconstruction, the paper will discuss the ways in which the novel disrupts such oppositions like male/female and self/other
