Abstract
Visually impaired individuals face significant challenges in accessing printed text. The Smart Reader for Blind People
aims to overcome this limitation using advanced computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies. The system captures
images of printed text, extracts characters through Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and converts them into audible speech
using a Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine. Implemented using Python, OpenCV, Pytesseract, and Google TTS, the proposed system
offers a low-cost, portable, and accurate solution for reading printed materials aloud. This paper discusses the system's architecture,
working methodology, and expected outcomes, emphasizing its contribution toward inclusive education and digital accessibility
for the visually impaired.
