The present study investigates the perceptions of faculty members towards the operational efficiency of Government District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in Andhra Pradesh. A descriptive research design was adopted to systematically describe and analyse the current status, prevailing conditions, and existing relationships among variables related to institutional functioning. The study aimed to understand how faculty members perceive various dimensions of operational efficiency, including institutional governance and leadership, infrastructure and resource management, academic planning and implementation, faculty development and engagement, and outreach, innovation, and impact. Data were collected from a sample of 108 teaching faculty members selected through a stratified random sampling technique from all 13 Government DIETs across the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh, ensuring comprehensive regional representation. The findings revealed that there was no significant difference in faculty perceptions of operational efficiency with respect to gender (male/female) and designation (principal/lecturer). This indicates that faculty members, irrespective of their demographic or professional characteristics, share similar views on the functioning and institutional efficiency of DIETs. The results highlight the importance of strengthening governance structures, resource utilization, and professional development initiatives to enhance the operational performance of DIETs. The study underscores the need for continued institutional support, leadership empowerment, and innovation to align DIET operations with the goals of quality teacher education envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP, 2020).
