It argues that while history has tied inventorship to natural persons, that associational approach has practical and moral implications, including disincentives or evidentiary challenges for inventors. The article outlines specific legislative and doctrinal reforms to clarify what role human involvement may be required, and to establish temporary measures to assign rights when AI complies without humans.
