Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the influence of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG-400) as a self-curing agent on the workability, mechanical strength, and durability of M25 grade concrete. PEG-400 was incorporated at 0%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% by weight of cement. Experimental evaluations included slump cone test for workability, compressive, split tensile, and flexural strength tests, and durability assessments such as water absorption and mass loss. A comparative cost analysis between conventional concrete and PEG-based self-curing concrete was also conducted. Results indicated that PEG-400 enhances slump, compressive strength, and durability, with optimal performance observed at 1-1.5% dosage. Moreover, the 1% PEG-400 mix was found to be the most economical.
