Abstract
Women empowerment has been the highlighted part of discussion in present context especially in the field of social sciences. The government of India however being aware of it has come up with certain schemes that supports gender equality and empowerment. The paper discusses the need of women empowerment and gender equality and the brought up by Indian government that ensures gender equality and how far has progressed.
