Abstract
This paper focuses on the role of uniform civil code(in brevity UCC) to balance the
social fabric of secularism, the various personal laws of different people in the Indian
democracy and about how to protect the rights of minorities guaranteed under the
Indian constitution. It examines and explores the various constitutional provision,
statutory laws by the two states goa and Uttarakhand, role of Indian judiciary time
and again pronouncing the various judgements for the implementation of UCC, the
need of Uniform civil code and the ways forward.
