India's rural markets present a significant opportunity for the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. This study examines the comparative growth, challenges, and opportunities in the FMCG market of rural India, a segment often characterised by high potential but underserved markets. Despite the promising growth due to rising incomes, infrastructure improvements, and government support, FMCG companies face challenges in distribution, price sensitivity, and product penetration. The research analyses the major drivers of growth, the strategies employed by FMCG companies to overcome challenges, and the future outlook for rural markets. Key challenges such as logistics, consumer awareness, and competition are discussed. The paper provides insights into how companies can capitalise on these opportunities through product innovation, supply chain improvements, and leveraging technology.
