  Abstract

In response to the critical need for accessible and affordable respiratory support systems, particularly during health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, this paper presents the design and development of an Arduino-based ventilator system with integrated blood oxygen sensing capabilities. The proposed system aims to address the shortage of ventilators in healthcare facilities, especially in resource-constrained settings. The ventilator system utilizes an Arduino microcontroller as the central control unit, providing a flexible and programmable platform for respiratory assistance. By incorporating blood oxygen sensing functionality, the system offers real-time monitoring of patient oxygenation levels, enabling timely adjustments to ventilation parameters to optimize therapy effectiveness and patient safety. Key components of the ventilator system include pneumatic actuators for controlling airflow, sensors for monitoring vital parameters such as air pressure and oxygen saturation, and a user interface for setting ventilation modes and alarms. The system's modular design facilitates easy customization and scalability to accommodate diverse patient needs and clinical requirements. Performance evaluation of the Arduino-based ventilator system demonstrates its capability to deliver reliable and precise respiratory support while ensuring adequate oxygenation levels. Through rigorous testing and validation, the system exhibits compliance with established safety standards and regulatory guidelines, making it suitable for clinical deployment in healthcare settings. Overall, the proposed ventilator system offers a cost-effective and adaptable solution for addressing the growing demand for respiratory support equipment, particularly in situations where traditional ventilators may be unavailable or prohibitively expensive. By leveraging the versatility of Arduino technology and integrating blood oxygen sensing capabilities, this system contributes to improving access to life-saving medical interventions, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and healthcare delivery worldwide.
