Abstract
Education is a vital process for the holistic development of an individual's inherent abilities and potential. In post-independence India, the expansion and democratization of education aimed to ensure equal opportunities for all sections of society. However, disparities between urban and rural education systems, along with socioeconomic inequalities, created imbalances in access to quality education. To address this challenge and provide equal educational opportunities to meritorious students from diverse social and economic backgrounds, the Government of India established Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas under the National Policy on Education (1986).
