Abstract
This paper basically throws light on the instances of genocide committed and the response of the Indian legal regime towards such grotesque crime against humanity. the aim o the research is to ascertain as to whether the existing provisions relating to punitive and preventive measures against offences amounting to genocide are adequate under penal laws in India or not. An attempt has been made to derive an answer to this significant question by studying the enacted provisions under Indian laws and also by developing an understanding of the provisions of same nature in the international arena.
