In application like Under Water Vehicle (UWV), it is essential to monitor various subsystem parameters during development stage of the vehicle. In case of UWV, performance evaluation is done offline post-trial because it is impossible to transmit data from vehicle either by cables or wireless while underwater. This calls for onboard recording system to record different parameter for different subsystems and download data for offline processing. Integrated Instrumentation and Recording System (IIRS) is developed for purpose of data acquisition, storing and generating alarm in UWV. This instrumentation system is calibrated offline during system integration check using a combination of software and hardware. Simulation environment is designed using personal computer interfaced with MILSTD-1553B along with IIRS unit.

The construction industry encounters high fatality and injury rates and is far away from achieving a zero-injury goal. Thus, effective safety management systems are critical to ongoing efforts to enhance safety. An appropriate definition of safety management systems is required, and therefore the elements included during a safety management system should be identified to be employed by practitioners to enhance safety. A variety of safety management systems are introduced by researchers and organizations. Most have been developed based on the root causes of fatalities and injuries within organizations. This paper gives an overview about different safety management systems in various fields to identify the similarities and differences in the systems. The objective of the review is to demonstrate the state-of-the art research on a spread of safety management systems and related different methods of measurement. This paper also includes background studies of developing safety management systems. The primary contribution of this review to the body of data is providing insights into existing safety management system and their critical elements including appropriate methods of safety performance measurement, which may enable owners, contractors, and decision makers to settle on and implement elements. This paper also includes application of sensors based technology in safety management of construction industry.

The problem in implementing the policy of using foreign workers in Tarakan City is that it has not effectively boosted the workforce for productive businesses that produce goods and services. Therefore, technology, skills, and knowledge transfer are needed along with the improvement of human resources. Officers need to handle labor and foreign workers, who in turn reduce income inequality and unemployment. Also, labor factors of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratical structure are required in handling the policy of using foreign workers in Tarakan City. Through a qualitative approach, as a research method. Researchers have collected, analyzed, and verified any data and information obtained from participatory observations of the set of events. Data collection techniques based on the results of interviews and observations are carried out validity and reliability and verified with the theory of social sciences and government science to formulate answers to research questions. The results showed findings strengthening the concept of foreign workers' use in Tarakan city put forward by Edward III GC (1980) on communication factors, resources, disposition, and bureaucratical structure. This change mainly occurs on the formal procedural side, although substantially, it is still far from the concept's parameters. The use of foreign workers is still output-oriented rather than outcome, benefit, and impact, making it difficult to guarantee the resulting policies by the reality of life in a society that boils down to improving regional social welfare.
