 Abstract

Emotional Intelligence is an important behavioral skill of the employees to enhance their self confidence, to ensure more success in job, to be effective leader and to have the greater impact on the self and others motivation level (Cooper and Sawaf, 1997). Emotional intelligence could also bring liability and commitment, loyalty and trust between staff in organization which could cause higher productivity and effectiveness between teams. (Cooper, 1997). Emotional intelligence is also one of the most important forecasters of organizational success. India is one of the fastest developing nation and economy of the world where the job markets and opportunities are developing rapidly and requires good quality human capital for managing and working in organizations to ensure the growth and development and also to face the ongoing challenges and stiff global competition. Emotional intelligence is nowadays has gained a prominent place in the organizational culture and policies. It is considered as one of the important criteria for selecting, developing and retaining the employees because emotional control, self-balance and good relationship management skills in employees are necessary for ensuring organization growth and success in any sector whether service. The present research study was conducted on the employees working in service sector organizations of West Bengal Region. Emotional intelligence (EI) The main objective of the study was to find the nature of relationship between emotional intelligence and employees effectiveness. The study further aims to find the effect of emotional intelligence and employee effectiveness and to do comparative study variables in between the employees of service sector. Also the effect of demographic factors and nature of organization (Service) was studied on emotional intelligence and employee effectiveness. Goleman refinement model of emotional intelligence (2001) was considered as the basis of designing the conceptual framework of the study. Goleman model is used as base to measure the emotional intelligence in the workplace scenario. The data collection was done on the basis of secondary data and primary data sources. Primary data was collected through a structured questionnaire consisting the information related to demographic characteristics, emotional intelligence and employee effectiveness. Emotional intelligence was studied on the basis of five dimension namely Self-awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness and relationship Management as defined in Goleman refinement model adopted for the study purpose. The emotional intelligence questionnaire was based on the scale developed by Blackberry and Greaves (2003)in accordance Goleman model 2001. Employee effectiveness is considered as the output to the organization and was studied on the basis of four factors namely job performance, job satisfaction, organization commitment and motivation. Employee effectiveness questionnaire based on items adopted from Aptomsl scale and few items adopted from motivation questionnaire based on the motivation factors developed by ( Lindner, 1998).  Abstract

This paper is a comprehensive analysis of code alternation by Yoruba-English bilinguals on the Internet. Specifically, the study investigates the communicative functions of computer-mediated code-switching among Yoruba-English bilinguals on WhatsApp (A chatting application owned by Facebook Incorporated). Code is a neutral (as against language, dialect, sociolect and idiolect) term that can be used to refer to any kind of system that two or more people employ for communication. Therefore, code alternation is one of the sociolinguistic approaches to language change in any bilingual community (either the physical/real life community or the cyberspace). Consequently, code-switching is a by-product of code alternation. Code-switching is an important aspect of bilingual discourse and it is seen as performing five communicative functions as evident in the data collected for this study. The functions include the following: a referential function, a directive function, an expressive function, a phatic function and a metalinguistic function. Our findings revealed that the interlocutors on WhatsApp exhibit through their use of language to perform these communicative functions that human interaction takes place within a cooperative activity which is the domain of Systemic Functional Theory.

 Abstract

In Ayurveda Visha is classified as Sthawara (inanimate) and Jangama (animate). Jangama Visha is the Visha of animal origin. There are sixteen Adhisthanas mentioned by Accharya Susruta. Out of above sixteen Sandansa type toxin is spread by needle like structure e.g. scorpion , Honey bees etc. Madhu (honey) and Madhu-Uchhista(bee wax) are used in most of the Ayurvedic therapeutical drugs. During collecting the honey there are chances of getting attacked by Honey bees. When Honey bee attacks it leaves sting on the site, It causes severe local pain and inflammation and patient may get die due to anaphylactic shock. In Ayurveda Chaturvinshati Upkramas (24 Modalities of treatment of poisoning) are described by Charaka for treatment of Vishas. Lepa is one of them. In various Ayurvedic Granthas there are so many preparation are described for the local appllicaton among them Kesharadi lepa is taken to study the efficacy of Kesharadi Lepa as a local application on Honey bee sting.

 Abstract

Work related musculoskeletal disorders have become a major risk in agriculture industry due to lack of ergonomically designed instruments and the wrong work postures occupied by the workers. This paper presents a study on various working postures occupied in manual transplantation activity of vegetables. The agriculture sector have major role in Indian economy and it is the place where work posture analysis is mostly neglected. The study was conducted on 70 workers engaged in various activities of vegetable production. Posture analysis tool Rapid Upper Limb Assessment was used. The different activities of the workers were recorded by video and still photography, and these images were used for analysis. The final scores of Rapid Upper Limb Assessment during various working activities were found to be high. The findings revealed that there are ergonomic deficiencies in the planning and work methods. A significant proportion of the workers are working in high risk postures. Thus the workers are under moderate to high risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The study recommended a proper implementation of ergonomics interventions program with awareness and training among workers to reduce the risks of WMSD.

 Abstract

Coke is a crucial raw material and a fuel used in blast furnace iron making. However, the coking industry with coal as the primary raw material is characterized by a relatively low energy utilization rate, high energy consumption per unit, complex process flows, abundant pollutionproducing links, and its being a large source of highly polluting matters. Therefore, the coking industry is considered a highly polluting industry. The exhaust gas pollutants generated during coking include total suspended particulate matter (TSP), particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters less than or equal to 2.5 ?m (PM2.5), sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The coking industry is also a substantial contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Long-term exposure to coke oven emissions results in inflammation of the skin and inner eyelids and lesions in the lung and stomach. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) classifies coke oven emissions as Group A carcinogens and links them to lung cancer (US EPA, 1999).

 Abstract

Human history has witnessed various pandemics throughout, and these cause disastrous effects on human health and countrys economy. Once again, after SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), the world is observing a very tough time fighting an invisible enemy, the novel COVID-19 coronavirus. Initially observed in the Wuhan province of China, now, it has spread across 210 countries. Number of corona affected confirmed cases have reached > 3 million globally and death toll has reached to 258,481 as on 6th May,2020. Researchers are working round the clock, forming collaborative efforts and sharing their data to come up with a cure for this disease. The new coronavirus genome was quickly sequenced, and clinical and epidemiological data are continuously being collected and analyzed. This data is crucial for forming better public health policies and developing antiviral drugs and vaccines. As there is no vaccine available in market against COVID-19, personal health, immunity, social distancing and basic protection measures are extremely important. It is critical to avoid the virus infection and to strengthen the immune system as the coronavirus can be fatal for those with weak immunity. This article reviews the nutritional and therapeutic potential of Spirulina, which is considered as superfood and a natural supplement to strengthen the immune system. Spirulina is highly nutritious and has hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic and antihypertensive properties. Spirulina contains several bioactive compounds, such as phenols, phycobiliproteins and sulphated polysaccharides and many more with proven antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunostimulant/ immunomodulatory effects.

 Abstract

The natural fibres and fillers from renewable natural resources offer the potential to act as a reinforcing material for polymer composite material alternative to the use of natural fibres and other man-made fibres. Among various natural fibres and fillers like aramid, wheat straw, sisal fiberwood powder, jute, hemp etc. are the most widely used natural fibres and fillers due to its advantages like easy availability, low density, low production cost and reasonable physical and mechanical properties. This research work presents the effects of natural fillers, hybrid composite structure is formed. Hybrid fiber reinforced polymer (HFRP) composite is a novel methodology in fiber reinforced polymer (FRP). A Laminate is prepared by stacking of alternative layers of carbon fiber reinforced jute and sisal reinforced composite making a laminate thickness of 10mm. Experiments were conducted HFRP composite for full factorial design to evaluate delamination factor at different drilling parameters, such as drill bit diameter, feed rate and cutting speed. Utilizing full factorial design and ANOVA approach the drilling parameters will optimize.

 Abstract

The Scrutiny criticism of the novel which was composed of the studies of Jane Austen, Henry James, Edith Wharton, Dorothy Richardson, George Gissing and E.M. Forster by Q.D. Leavis, of Dickens by R.C. Churchill of Emily Bronte by G.D. Klingopulos besides those of D.H. Lawrence and the great tradition of novelists by F.R. Leavis is in itself a substantive contribution. Though it is a subject beyond the scope of the present work, it is worthwhile to examine a particular area of Scrutiny’s novel criticism which is related to its criticism of poetry. The two dominant ideas behind Scrutiny’s novel criticism are the close connection between the novel and morality, and the great novels as an affirmation of life. This moral dimension of novel is especially complex and revolves around a number of closely related ideas----------- a definite concept of form in fiction, the concepts of the novel as moral fable and dramatic poem, and a notion of moral enactment and moral exploration. An important aspect of Scrutiny’s novel criticism was the concept of the novel as dramatic poem. Scrutiny published a series of studies deriving from the concept of the poetic as constituent of the novel, in the course of which Leavis developed some of his most effective and shaping criticism, Including the works that appeared as The Great Tradition and D.H.Lawrence: Novelist. This new critical tactic employed by Scrutiny critics saw all Literature as poetry or read as if it were poetry, often at the expense of genre characteristics. This critical practice has often been challenged on several grounds but for Scrutiny critics it had immediate advantages. It allowed them to examine fiction with the same careful textual analysis and scrutiny which they brought to poetry---------two quote and analyse long passages, to demonstrate the operative function of ideas, and to develop symbolic and experimental patterns. Then, too, by insisting on the dramatic nature of such fiction, they could keep fidelity with rendered life and temporal progression, and avoid excessive symbol-hunting
