The term efficiency means how effectively and efficiently a bank uses its resources to increase its profitability and productivity. For an analytical view, profitability and productivity complement each other and are interrelated. In India, the earliest instances of analysis of efficiency of banks was done by Luther Committee in the year 1977 which examined the productivity, efficiency and profitability of the nationalised banks from 1969 to 1975 on the basis of selected set of efficiency indicators. This paper aims to analyse the efficiency of selected private sector banks in India with respect to seven key performance indicators. Keeping in mind the limitations of secondary data sourced from published reports and websites, to analyse the computed efficiency and productivity ratios, F-Test single factor analysis of variance ( ANOVA) has been used as a statistical measure. For the convenience of the study, only a set of five selected private sector banks viz, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, AXIS bank, FEDERAL bank and YES bank have been incorporated based on the technique of random sampling. The study has been confined for a period of five financial years starting from 2015-16 to 2019-20. The study resulted with a mixed response with regard to the efficiency of the banks in terms of profitability and productivity and demanded an improvement in some banks as the banks have not succeeded in acquiring full efficiency in all the years of study.

This paper criticizes the authoritarian rules prevalent in India since pre-independence. The purpose of this paper is to probe the condition of women as highlighted in the contemporary Indian novel Difficult Daughters by Manju Kapur. This work of literature stresses on the plight of women and how they are objectified and considered worthless. The writer vividly describes how the first character in the novel is metaphorically compared with a fruit-bearing tree, the similarity between the two being, just as a tree is expected to bear fruits seasonally, Kasturi was expected to bear babies yearly. Her life was merely her own, she was a puppet controlled by her husband and his family. The three protagonists in the novel tell the readers about miseries faced by women in three different generations. Kasturi is not modern in thinking hence she does not want her daughter to be modern in her thinking. The core idea of feminism is that women should have equal rights, power, and opportunity but patriarchy and its subsets deprive them of their basic rights. Here the writer has successfully portrayed the conflict of traditional modernity in her characters, she chooses the urban Indian middle class and represents the majority of the population.

Coronaviruses have caused two large scale pandemics severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) in last two decades. It was thought that SARS-related coronaviruses (SARSr-CoV) is mainly found in bats. Previous studies have shown that some bat SARSr-CoVs have the potential to infect humans. The current outbreak of viral pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, China, was caused by a novel coronavirus designated 2019-nCoV by the World Health Organization, as determined by sequencing the viral RNA genome. Many initial patients were exposed to wildlife animals at the Huanan seafood wholesale market, where poultry, snake, bats, and other farm animals were also sold. Here we have taken an attempt to understand the genetic structure of 2019-nCoV and subsequent sequence analysis of multiple regions of its genome to identify unique motifs, receptor binding domain, hypervariable region which may direct some insight to future research for developing effective treatment against this novel coronavirus. We have identified unique motif in spike protein, multiple hypervariable regions, amino acids polymorphism in ORF8. These may affect the conformation of the peptide and shed some light to cross species transmission, and subsequent host adaptation

Abstract: Kerala The Gods Own Country is filled with the presence of music, dance, musical instruments, temple arts and temple rituals. The history of various traditional art forms rests in the soil of Kerala. About eighteen musical instruments are known as Kshetra Vadyam. It includes Deva vadyam and Asura Vadyam from which the distinct place for Chenda can be acknowledged by observing where it is present. It might be Chendas resonance that make the seventeen Ashtadasha Vadyams to below the Chenda. Some of the musical instruments which are being used for Pooja rituals in temples are also being used for some classical dance forms in Kerala. The study of such musical instruments and the classical dance forms associated to it are the foundation of this journal. Some musical instruments are used only outside the temple and some are used inside the temple only. Sopana Sangeetham is one of the popular among Kshetra Sangeetham. Only one musical instrument is used in Sopana Sangeetham ie Idakka. Idakka is a musical instrument which is inevitable in Mohiniyattam concert. Idakka is only used in Kathakali when female role is presented. The Chenda is an inevitable musical instrument in Kathakali. Altogether, five musical instruments in Pakkamaelam are used when Kathakali is staged from which four are Kshetra Vadyams, Chenda, Idakka, Madhalam, Chengila and the one which is excluded in Kshetra Vadyams is Ilathalam. In Krishnattam, which is staged only in the surroundings of the Temple.Idakka, Thoppi Madhalam, Sudha Madhalam, and Chengila are borrowed from Kshetra Vadyam,s. Mizhav is a Kshetra Vadyam which is very important musical instrument for staging Keralss unique and traditional art forms, Koodiyattam and Nangyar Koothu. Other than Mizhav, Idakka, Kuzhithalam, Conch, and Karumkuzhal are the musical instruments in Koodiyattam and Koothu.

Abstract Digit sucking is a natural phenomenon and is one of the most common learned patterns of behavior seen in children of preschool age. If digit sucking habit persists beyond the time permanent teeth begin to erupt, it may cause malocclusion. When the thumb is inserted into mouth mandible is positioned downward. The digit creates pressure on incisors blocking their effective eruption while allowing excessive eruption of the posterior teeth. The upper incisors are proclined and the lower incisors are retroclined. Starting from counseling to appliance therapy, sample treatment modalities have been reported in the literature. This case report describes a 5year-old girl who reported to our department with a history of thumb sucking habit which was intervened with the use of fixed habit breaking appliance.

One of the most complex challenges faced by todays interconnected and interdependent common village is organized crime, which essentially constitutes to be nothing less than a guerrilla war against society. Organized crime in itself has multiple branches within, including illegal wildlife trade, terrorism, money laundering and trafficking and its impact can deter the very core of human society- from human safety to institutionalizing evils of corruption to having an adverse impact on the environment. The authors of this paper endeavor to establish the spread of organized crime as a phenomenon of increasing globalization and its further facilitation by the use of technology. The paper focusses on the recent increase in the industry of illegal wildlife trade and terrorist financing as substantiated upon in the recent reports released by FATF, keeping in mind the international jurisprudence and the challenges faced by them in addressing these transnational crimes and attempt to make a case for stricter implementation of legal instruments and concerted and coordinated efforts amongst nations to address the same.

Pesticides are documented to have strong impact on the physiological, biological, biochemical and morphological parameters of insects. This study reviews the sub-lethal impact of Cypermethrin (a synthetic pesticide) on various biological parameters of Callosobruchus chinensis. The designed insect was exposed to sub-lethal dose of Cypermethrin. The exposure did not produce immediate mortality of the insect, but had prolonged effects on its biological parameters. The laboratory analysis was carried out with LC10, LC20 and LC30 of the designed pesticide at a room temperature of 25-27 oC and relative humidity of 60-70%. The mean rate of oviposition decreased from control = (96 2), LC10 = (92 2) to LC20 = (79 2) and LC30 = (63 3). The percentage of egg development into larvae showed significant decline from control = (94%) to LC10 = (81%), LC20 = (67%) and LC30 = (55%) respectively. In the same way the percentage of adult emergence from the 4th instar larvae of C.chinensis showed significant decline from control (95.00 2.00%), LC10 (88.00 2.50%), LC20 (55.00 2.60%) and LC30 (40.00 2.85%). Similarly the mean life span of adult females decreases from control = 12.50 0.125 to LC10 = 8.25 0.190, LC20 = 6.50 0.150 and LC30 = 4.30 0.125. Since chemical pest control method is quick, easy and inexpensive, but it is associated with several negative effects on environment therefore in view of the environmental modifications that have significantly impacted our ecosystem, insect population and other beneficial non-target organisms, it is necessary to evaluate the lethal and sub-lethal effects of many pesticides frequently, as this will help to determine the dose response status of insect pests for preference and design of chemicals for control programme.

Production of bulky silk is the need of the hour as the same is required for weft in the production of silk sarees. So far raw silk produced in charkha reeling device was used for the purpose. But due to non-availability of skilled labourers and improper working atmosphere in charkha reeling sector, alternative methods of production of bulky raw silk were thought off. In this context, introducing PVA yarn in the process of silk reeling has been developed by CSTRI by modifying the multiend reeling machine for the production of bulky void raw silk. The bivoltine cocoons along with Indian PVA yarn is used for the production of bulky silk. Using the Box and Behnken design of experiments the process variables viz., Number of cocoons, croissure length, reeling basin water temperature and reel speed have been standardized with 27 combinations of experiments. The study indicates that process variables significantly influence the reeling performance and quality of bulky void raw silk produced viz., reelability, non-broken filament length, single cocoon filament denier, raw silk percentage, average denier, cross section view of bulky void raw silk. Based on the response optimization in statistical analysis, it was observed that 20 bivoltine cocoons reeled per end along with Indian PVA yarn with 6 mm croissure length, 50C basin temperature and reel speed of 100 m/min is ideal for the production of bulky void raw silk on modified CSTRI multiend reeling machine. The bulky void raw silk is quite useful as weft in the production of silk sarees with unique surface characteristics.

The present study deals with the cluster, discriminant and principal component analysis. The data for the present study was collected. Data on different morphological and seedling characters, namely tree height (m), tree diameter (cm), crown spread E-W (m), crown spread N-S (m), fruit weight (g), leaf length(cm), internodal length(cm), collar diameter (mm), number of branches per plant and leaf petiole (cm) were considered from five different districts comprising of ten seed sources. Two seed sources were considered from each district viz; Narag and Neripul from Sirmour district, Waknaghat and Sadhupul from Solan district, Sundernagar and Rewalsar from Mandi district, Mohal and Banjar from Kullu district, Basantpur and Sunni from Shimla district. Different morphological and seedling characteristics of ten seed sources were evaluated. Cluster analysis was performed and the seed sources were grouped into three clusters. Discriminant analysis was carried out to categorize the seed sources into high and low yielders. Tree diameter, Tree height and crown spread E-W are the most important characters that discriminate the two groups. Six seed sources from Mandi, Kullu and Shimla district were high yielder whereas other four seed sources were low yielder. Three principal components (PCS) were extracted out of ten which explained 34.675, 23.002, and 11.587 per cent of the total variation respectively amounting to 69.26 per cent of total variation.

In this paper software-defined network (SDN) approach used to provide a set of deliberate active allocators for virtual machines (VMs) in the cloud data center (DC). Each VM request has four parameters: CPU, RAM, disk, or memory. Virtual machine allocation is one of the challenges in cloud computing environments, especially for private cloud design. In this environment, each virtual machine is assigned to a physical host based on the resources available on the host. Specifically, in the case of different performance indicators and system requirements, quantifying the performance of scheduling and allocation strategies in the cloud infrastructure for different applications and service models is a very challenging and difficult solution.

Nowadays, there are numerous causes for visual impairment. Eye diseases which are evident in the retina can be spotted through a systematic and structured ophthalmologic examination. Subsequent rise of the patients with these diseases due to population growth, aging made the number of Ophthalmologists a controlling factor. Glaucoma is a type of deep-rooted disease which leads to vision loss thus making it irreparable. Therefore, this disease has to be detected at an early or intermediate stage for timely treatment. Various models have been developed based on image processing or deep learning to detect Glaucoma but the systems have either been computationally complex or of insufficient accuracy. In the proposed system, structured learning which makes use of the edge information of the fundus image is used for OD detection. Finally, the convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to check if it is glaucoma affected eye or not. Thus detecting Glaucoma at early stage with system producing the increased accuracy, specificity and sensitivity.
