The world was changed--in other words, a new one was created--by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to some accounts, the greatest human tragedy of the past century affected every aspect of human existence. Despite the fact that the globe is getting ready for another post-pandemic historic calamity. People won't fully understand the serious ramifications of a catastrophic nightmare for years, even while the globe is getting ready for a new post-pandemic normal. The pandemic provided a much-needed house shaking in many facets of our social and personal lives, despite the lasting and irreversible harm it caused. The education sector was one of the most severely hit initially, although it is anticipated that it would recover with time. What the epidemic taught us about professional development and instruction for second language teachers is outlined in this chapter. The volume's contributors, who were among the first to focus on the problem of language teaching during the epidemic, also take this into consideration.

Food plays a crucial role in the growth and development of the body, essential for human survival by providing necessary nutrition. Fast food, being convenient and ready-to-eat, is widely consumed. The primary reason for society's preference for fast food is the fast-paced nature of modern life. However, this convenience comes with significant negative impacts on both physical and mental health. Nutritionally, fast food is deficient, containing high levels of unhealthy substances such as sugar, salt, saturated or trans fats, and various processed preservatives. The body's reaction to the lack of essential nutrients manifests in both short-term and long-term effects. Short-term impacts include fluctuations in blood sugar levels and blood pressure, while long-term consumption can lead to digestive issues, weakened immunity, inflammation, heart problems, respiratory issues, and more. To mitigate these effects, it is important to shift towards a healthy diet and ensure adequate hydration. Replacing meals with nutritious options like fruits, low-calorie foods, fresh juices, and low-fat dairy can help in this transition. Research on this issue has been ongoing for many years, particularly in the United States and other countries. The research primarily utilizes secondary data and gathers primary data through questionnaires. The focus is on adolescents and middle-aged individuals, who are the highest consumers of fast food. This paper emphasizes the importance of raising awareness about healthy eating habits to avoid the detrimental effects of fast food on physical and mental health.

Gymnanthemum amygdalinum (Delile) Sch.Bip. ex Walp. (Asteraceae), better known by its former name Vernonia amygdalina Delile, is a small shrub with wide medicinal properties. The aim of this work is to screen the extracts of Gymnanthemum amygdalinum leaves for phytochemical and physiochemical composition mainly to establish its earlier claimed usage as traditional and modern medicine. The preliminary phytochemical analysis of ethanol and petroleum ether extracts showed the presence of tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and carbohydrates. The phytochemical compounds especially alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, glycosides and carbohydrates were detected in both pet ether and ethanol extracts of leaves. Quantitative determination of the phytochemical compounds found in the barks and leaves of the tree revealed that the extracts had significantly higher values of alkaloids, flavonoids and glycosides than barks. Saponins and anthraquinnes were found to be significantly more in barks than in leaves. The total ash, water soluble, acid insoluble and sulphated ash in leaves were measured to be 12.14%, 5.53%, 2.04% and 14.02% respectively. The results obtained were remarkable and the plant can be further explored in the treatment of oxidative stress and other related disorders.

Soil is a vital substance for all creatures in the world, soil has vast usage in different parts such as agriculture, civil work, foundation, bridges, embankment, buildings, canals, tunneling etc. Soil has different types and all the types of soil cannot fulfill all requirements of engineering properties and cannot stand against the properties such as mechanical strength, permeability, compressibility etc. among the different types of soils expansive soil is a weak soil which has less shear strength and should be stabilized for various construction purposes. Stabilization is the process of blending materials with soil in order to improve certain properties of soil like plasticity index, gradation, texture or act as a binder for the cementation of soil. Normally stabilization of soil is done by adding additives like lime, cement, etc. Cement stabilization is one of the effective stabilization processes but proves to be very costly in a long run. So, it needs an economic replacement by such materials which possess the same properties as that possessed by cement. It is being found that Pond ash possesses pozzolanic properties having silica as main component and Egg shell powder is having calcium oxide as its main component both being the main constituents of cement. Therefore, cement can be replaced partially or fully by these two waste materials in soil stabilization. A huge amount of eggshell and pond ash wastes is produced every year and there is an absence of effective waste disposal. Hence it is proposed to utilize ESP and pond ash for soil improvement which serves two purposes like waste utilization and also soil stabilization. In this present study, the two waste materials used are PA and ESP in different proportions. PA is first added in natural soil in different proportions like 3%, 5%, 7%, 9%and 11% by weight of soil and 5% PA was found an optimum proportion based on UCS values. After finding the optimum proportion of PA-soil mix i.e., 5% Then ESP was added in different proportions like 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% to the Soil-PA mix. From test results it was found that the UCS got a maximum value of 271.24 KN/m2 at 6% ESP.
