 Abstract

Allelopathy is a biological phenomenon in which plants release chemicals that affect the germination and growth of nearby plants. This study was conducted to evaluate the allelopathic effects of aqueous leaf extracts of Parthenium hysterophorus, Lantana camara, Ageratum conyzoides, and Azadirachta indica on seed germination and early seedling growth of Triticum aestivum (wheat). Leaf samples were shade-dried, powdered, and used to prepare extracts of 5%, 10%, and 15% concentrations. The experiment was carried out under controlled laboratory conditions using a completely randomized design with proper control and replications. In this study, parameters such as germination percentage, root growth, shoot growth, and seedling vigour index were evaluated. The results showed that all plant extracts had inhibitory effects, which increased with higher concentrations. Among them, Ageratum conyzoides exhibited the strongest inhibition on both root and shoot growth, followed by Lantana camara. Parthenium hysterophorus showed a moderate inhibitory effect, while Azadirachta indica showed no significant effect, indicating minimal allelopathic influence. Overall, the study demonstrates that allelopathic plants can negatively affect crop establishment and productivity. Therefore, proper management of these plants is necessary to improve crop growth and yield.

 Abstract

The psychological well-being of prospective teachers plays a vital role in their academic success, professional preparation, and overall development. In recent years, increasing academic demands and changing educational environments have highlighted the importance of understanding the relationship between psychological well-being and academic engagement among teacher education students. The present study investigates the level of psychological well-being and academic engagement among prospective teachers and examines the relationship between these variables. A normative survey method was employed for the study. The sample consisted of prospective teachers enrolled in teacher education institutions. Standardized tools were used to measure psychological well-being and academic engagement. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's Product Moment Correlation were utilized for data analysis. The findings revealed that prospective teachers exhibited moderate to high levels of psychological well-being and academic engagement. A significant positive relationship was found between psychological well-being and academic engagement, indicating that students with higher psychological well-being tend to demonstrate greater involvement, enthusiasm, and commitment to their academic activities. The study emphasizes the need for teacher education institutions to promote psychological well-being through supportive learning environments, counselling services, and well-being-focused interventions. Enhancing psychological well-being may contribute significantly to improving academic engagement and preparing competent future teachers.

 Abstract

Printmaking has shaped culture in all parts of the world. Originally used as a form of communication, printmaking is now valued as an artistic medium with unique technical qualities. To create a print, the artist creates an image on a surface usually made of metal, stone, wood, or other material. If we describe the brief history and techniques of printmaking, then its roots can be traced back to prehistoric cave paintings and prints by humans, to the emergence of modern humans, who began to record their handprints on paper. The block printing traditions of the Indus Valley Civilization represent the earliest foundations of printmaking, and their artistic and technological innovations continue to contribute to contemporary textile printing and visual culture. In addition, the carved seals, repetitive patterns, and image transfer techniques of the Indus Valley laid the foundation for modern printmaking practices. Indus Valley, Mesopotamia where carved inscriptions were repeatedly pressed into clay for printing. These inscriptions represent their identity and trade. These inscriptions later developed with woodblock printing in China, where syllabified were carved onto blocks to reproduce text and images. Chinese scholars made rubbings from carved inscriptions around 200 AD, which was an early form of printing that could be done on paper and silk. The best example of this is the Diamond Sutra. In addition, Han Dynasty seals called chops were made by carving calligraphy characters on a flat surface of jade, silver, gold, or ivory. China introduced the practice of paper currency. The principle of buying and selling through currency made trade transactions much easier. European traveler Marco Polo discussed the use of stencils on Japanese and Chinese silk and paper currency while traveling to Europe. In fourteenth-century Europe, woodcut prints became a popular way to distribute Christian imagery to the general public. In Europe, pictorial designs were being printed on cloth. Block-prints were stenciled onto thick paper. As a result, printing began to expand in Europe. If we talk about India, there is evidence of woodblock-printed textiles on the west coast of India, but the use of blocks for printing on paper was a foreign technique. Traditional Indian arts and crafts skills such as goldsmithing, wood and metal carving, and iron work already had a strong foundation in India. At that time, these seals were made of stone and metal, which have now become digital. The best example of this is the bar code scanner.

 Abstract

The Gypsy Goddess, is the debut novel of Meena Kandasamy, an exploration of the plight of agriculture laborers who work in horrific conditions in the fields incessantly from minimal to no wages while undergoing constant subjugation to the upper caste landlords of Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. This narrative though primarily concerned with the massacre that happened on Christmas day in 1968 in Kilvenmani village, also investigates the ideas concerned with identity, politics, etc., and the narrative evokes sympathy and horror in the reader with its narrative form. Through a combination of postmodern and metafictional techniques, Kandasamy challenges traditional novelistic structures, exposing their limitations and offering a counter-narrative to the official histories of India.

 Abstract

The rapid proliferation of digital technology in India has given rise to an unprecedented surge in cybercrime, transforming the socio-digital landscape and presenting significant challenges for law enforcement, policymakers, and forensic practitioners. This manuscript examines the psychological dimensions of cybercrime in the Indian context, drawing on forensic psychology frameworks to analyze the cognitive, motivational, and socioenvironmental factors that drive cybercriminal behavior. The paper explores the psychological profiles of cybercriminals operating within India, including financially motivated fraudsters, ideologically driven hacktivists, and sexually motivated offenders. Using a forensic lens, the study integrates criminological theories--including routine activity theory, general strain theory, and neutralization theory--to explain the unique manifestations of cybercrime in India's demographically and culturally diverse milieu. The manuscript further investigates the psychological impact of cybervictimization on Indian individuals and communities, with special attention to gendered dimensions of online harassment and cyberstalking. Forensic investigative methodologies, digital evidence analysis, and the role of psychological profiling in cybercrime investigations are critically evaluated. Implications for forensic practice, mental health interventions, and policy recommendations are discussed. The findings underscore the urgent need for interdisciplinary collaboration among forensic psychologists, cybersecurity professionals, law enforcement agencies, and policymakers to develop culturally sensitive and empirically grounded strategies for cybercrime prevention and offender rehabilitation in India.

 Abstract

ABSTRACT Background Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) is a major cardiovascular disorder associated with frequent hospital readmissions, poor prognosis, increased healthcare expenditure, and reduced quality of life. Recurrent hospitalizations among CHF patients commonly occur due to inadequate self- management practices, poor medication adherence, delayed symptom recognition, and associated comorbidities. Understanding hospital readmission patterns and associated factors is essential for improving patient outcomes and planning effective nursing interventions. Objectives o To assess hospital readmission patterns among patients with chronic heart failure. o To identify factors associated with hospital readmissions among patients with chronic heart failure. o To determine the association between hospital readmission patterns and selected demographic and clinical variables. Methods A quantitative research approach with a descriptive cross-sectional research design was adopted for the study. A total of 150 patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure were selected using a purposive sampling technique based on eligibility criteria and willingness to participate in the study. Data were collected using a demographic and clinical variable sheet along with a structured hospital readmission assessment checklist. Hospital readmission patterns, frequency of hospital admissions, contributing factors, and associated demographic and clinical variables were assessed. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results Among 150 participants, 46% had one previous hospital readmission, 32% had two readmissions, and 22% had more than two readmissions within the previous one year. Poor medication adherence (58%), excessive fluid intake (44%), delayed symptom recognition (41%), and uncontrolled comorbidities (38%) were identified as major contributing factors for hospital readmissions. A significant association was found between hospital readmission patterns and educational status, duration of illness, smoking history, and NYHA classification (). Conclusion The study findings revealed that hospital readmissions among patients with chronic heart failure were strongly associated with poor self-management practices and disease-related factors. Early identification of high-risk patients and strengthening nurse-led patient education programmes may help reduce avoidable hospital readmissions and improve patient outcomes.

 Abstract

This study examines the impact of sales promotion tools on consumer buying behaviour, specifically in the grooming and wellness sector. The research is being conducted in the Ranchi district. Businesses use these tools to provide incentives to consumers, which motivate them to purchase the products. Based on existing literature, there have been limited studies conducted specifically within this sector. The emergence of digitalisation, adoption of artificial intelligence, augmented reality and cultural integration, such as the rise in demand for Korean grooming and wellness products, highlights the change in consumers' tastes and preferences. The preferences and purchasing patterns in this industry are constantly changing due to increased customer awareness, lifestyle changes, and growing competition among brands. The research examines the influence of promotional tools like price discounts, premiums, free samples, etc., on consumer buying behaviour in today's time. The sample size of this study is 236 respondents, and the researcher has used a convenience sampling technique. The primary data is collected through a structured questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale. The secondary data is collected through online sources. The analysis of the collected data was done with the help of SPSS software, and Microsoft Excel was used for graphical representation. The research found that there is a strong relationship between sales promotional tools and consumer buying behaviour. Customers are looking to form a long-term relationship with brands within this sector. In an intense competitive market like grooming and wellness, brands should use loyalty programs to retain and encourage customers to repurchase. Integration of artificial technology and augmented reality enhances consumer experiences. Brands should use balanced monetary offers that do not make consumers question the quality of products or brand equity. Free samples/trials reduce financial and psychological risk borne by consumers.

 Abstract

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is one of the most common microvascular complications of Diabetes Mellitus and is a leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide. The chronic hyperglycemic state causes progressive retinal vascular damage, resulting in retinal ischemia, hemorrhages, exudates, neovascularization, and visual impairment. Although Diabetic Retinopathy is not directly described in the classical Ayurvedic texts, its clinical manifestations can be correlated with Madhumeha, Prameha Upadrava, Timira, Kacha, and Drishtigata Rogas. Ayurveda emphasizes the preservation of vision through the maintenance of equilibrium among Dosha, Dhatu, and Mala. Management includes Nidana Parivarjana, Shodhana, Shamana Chikitsa, Rasayana Prayoga, dietary regulation, and ocular therapeutic procedures. This review aims to explore the Ayurvedic understanding and management of Diabetic Retinopathy through classical references and contemporary perspectives.

 Abstract

The exponential surge in digital data across distributed systems has intensified the demand for compression mechanisms that are both lossless and computationally intelligent. Traditional algorithms such as Huffman coding, Lempel-Ziv variants, and arithmetic coding have served the field well for decades, yet exhibit fundamental limitations when confronted with contextually rich or heterogeneous data streams. This paper presents an intelligent file compression and decompression system that harnesses DeepSeek-R1:1.5B -- a lightweight yet powerful large language model -- deployed locally via Ollama to drive context-aware probability estimation and entropy encoding. The proposed system integrates LLM-generated probability distributions into an arithmetic coding backend, enabling significantly improved compression ratios for text-dominant file types compared to classical baselines. Experimental evaluation across diverse datasets demonstrates measurable gains in compression efficiency while maintaining perfect lossless reconstruction. The system addresses practical deployment concerns through local inference via Ollama, mitigating privacy and latency overheads associated with cloud-based LLMs. This work bridges the theoretical potential of neural language models with tangible, deployable compression infrastructure and charts a course for hybrid AI-classical compression frameworks.

 Abstract

Rapid urbanization and population growth have led to an increasing demand for high-rise buildings in urban areas where land availability is limited. As the height of buildings increases, their vulnerability to lateral loads such as earthquakes and wind also increases. High-rise reinforced concrete (RC) buildings are particularly susceptible to excessive lateral displacement, story drift, and torsional effects during seismic events. Therefore, it becomes essential to incorporate efficient lateral load-resisting systems to ensure the safety, stability, and serviceability of such structures. Among the various structural systems available, reinforced concrete shear walls and steel bracing systems have proven to be effective in enhancing the seismic performance of multi-storey buildings. Shear walls provide significant lateral stiffness and strength, while steel bracing systems improve the load-resisting capacity and energy dissipation of the structural frame. The combined use of these systems can further enhance the overall performance of high-rise buildings subjected to seismic forces. The present study focuses on the analysis and comparison of the structural behaviour of a high-rise RC building of G+40 storeys using different lateral load resisting systems. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of RC shear walls and steel bracing systems in controlling lateral displacement, story drift, and overall structural response under seismic loading conditions. A three-dimensional model of the building is developed and analysed using ETABS software. Different structural configurations are considered, including a bare frame model, a model with RC shear walls, a model with various steel bracing arrangements and a model with both the systems RC shear wall and steel bracing. These models are analysed to study their dynamic behaviour and seismic performance. The seismic analysis of the building is carried out using appropriate methods in accordance with relevant design codes. Important structural response parameters such as base shear, story displacement, story drift, fundamental time period, and story stiffness are evaluated and compared for different structural systems. The analysis aims to determine how the introduction of shear walls and bracing systems influences the lateral stiffness and overall stability of the building. The results obtained from the analysis indicate that the inclusion of RC shear walls and steel bracing significantly increases the stiffness of the building and reduces lateral displacement and story drift enhancing lateral load resistance and reducing the fundamental time period of the structure. The study also highlights that different bracing configurations have varying levels of effectiveness in controlling seismic response. In many cases, the combination of shear walls and steel bracing systems provides better performance compared to using either system alone. Overall, this study demonstrates that the proper selection and placement of shear walls and steel bracing systems play a crucial role in improving the seismic performance of high-rise buildings. The findings of this research provide useful insights for structural engineers in designing safer and more efficient high-rise RC buildings in earthquake-prone regions. The results can contribute to optimizing lateral load resisting systems for tall buildings and improving their resilience against seismic forces.

 Abstract

Micro enterprises operate with less capital, traditional machinery and few employees. They need finance for their day-to-day working and overall growth. Financial Institutions (FIs) play a crucial role in providing financial assistance and support at a reasonable rate and for the survival, growth and long-run development of micro enterprises. The researcher conducted the study on the impact of institutional financial support on growth and sustainability of micro enterprises in Ranchi district of Jharkhand. This study used primary data for testing the hypothesis and observed the response of entrepreneurs to know the opinions of respondents on the impact of FI support on growth and sustainability of ME. In this study, the survey method was used to collect data from approx 100 respondents. The researcher used the convenience sampling method for collecting data. After testing the hypothesis from the data collected by the researcher, it is evident that FIs' support had a very crucial impact on effective management and smooth working of micro enterprises. There is a positive relationship between credit support from FIs and growth and longevity of micro enterprises. While conducting this survey, the researcher evaluated that respondents agreed with the fact that financial support, like skill development, advising and guidance programs by the government and FIs, is necessary for the growth and survival of ME. The researcher also found that there are some major challenges which create a hindrance in easy accessibility of loan facilities by micro enterprises from FIs. It is concluded that institutional financial support has a strong, effective, and positive effect on overall growth and development of Micro enterprises.

 Abstract

Mizoram has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in India, with female sex workers (FSWs) remaining one of the most vulnerable populations due to social stigma, economic insecurity, limited healthcare access, and marginalization. In this context, both faith-based organizations (FBOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have emerged as important actors in HIV prevention and support services. This study examines the role of FBOs and NGOs in reducing HIV transmission among female sex workers in Mizoram, with particular focus on Aizawl and Lunglei districts. Using a qualitative research design, the study draws on in-depth interviews with 25 female sex workers, interviews with NGO workers and faith leaders, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that NGOs primarily adopt a rights-based and harm-reduction approach by providing HIV testing, counselling, condom distribution, peer education, and linkage to antiretroviral therapy (ART) services. In contrast, faith-based organizations focus more on spiritual healing, behavioural reform, emotional support, rehabilitation, and social reintegration. Despite ideological differences, both sectors contribute significantly to HIV prevention and care among marginalized women. Many participants viewed NGOs as more approachable for immediate healthcare needs, while FBOs were valued for emotional healing, moral support, and community acceptance. The study also identifies emerging collaboration between NGOs and FBOs, particularly in awareness programmes and counselling initiatives. The paper argues that effective HIV intervention in Mizoram requires a culturally sensitive and collaborative approach that integrates biomedical support with emotional, spiritual, and social care. It recommends stronger partnerships between state agencies, NGOs, and FBOs, increased trauma-informed mental health services, and community-based anti-stigma interventions. The study contributes to broader discussions on religion, public health, gendered stigma, and community-led HIV interventions in Northeast India.

 Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a yoga intervention in reducing insomnia symptoms, improving sleep quality, and lowering anxiety among middle-aged adults. Insomnia is a common condition in this population, often associated with poor sleep quality and heightened anxiety, which can significantly impact overall well-being. The present study compares an experimental group undergoing a structured yoga program with a control group that did not receive the intervention. The findings indicate a significant improvement in insomnia severity in the experimental group, with a mean difference of 15.92 (SD = 2.55, p < 0.05), demonstrating the positive impact of yoga in reducing insomnia symptoms. In contrast, the control group showed a lower mean difference of 13.82 (SD = 2.52), which was not statistically significant (p > 0.05), indicating minimal improvement without intervention. Similarly, sleep quality improved significantly in the experimental group, with a mean difference of 14.63 (SD = 2.41, p < 0.05). The control group, however, showed negligible change (mean = -0.63, SD = 1.56, p > 0.05), suggesting that yoga plays a crucial role in enhancing sleep patterns. In terms of anxiety, the experimental group demonstrated a significant reduction (mean difference = 15.22, SD = 2.28, p < 0.05), whereas the control group showed less improvement (mean = 13.7, SD = 2.46, p > 0.05).
