Abstract: The pollen of Datura metel has been found to have a role in causing allergy. The other two species of Datura i.e. Datura inoxia and Datura stramonium being similar to Datura metel may contribute a role to allergenic rhinitis. The present paper reports the comparative protein concentration study of mature and immature pollen of Datura metel, Datura inoxia and Datura stramonium. Datura metel and Datura inoxia showed a lower protein concentration in case of immature pollen than mature one. On the other hand Datura stramonium showed a higher protein concentration in immature pollen than mature one. From the SDS-PAGE electrophoresis study it was revealed that the three species shared five common proteins with molecular weights of 205.0 kDa, 97.4 kDa, 66..0 kDa, 59.4 kDa and 43.0 kDa. Apart from these five Datura metel and Datura inoxia shared another two other common pollen proteins and Datura stramonium and Datura inoxia showed a same result as previous. On the other hand apart from the fair common proteins, another protein was found to be common between Datura metel and Datura stramonium.

Floating column is a feature of the modern construction industry which is used to increase the maximum use of area, or due to the architectural requirement of large column free space. Whatever the reason is use of floating columns in seismic areas is very dangerous. Due to continuous pressure from the industry to deliver some fresh and new designs, the designers have started making irregular plans of buildings with extensive use of floating columns in it at one or more than one floors. This study tells us about the behaviour of irregular structures with and without floating columns in seismic areas. Various models are made by varying the location of floating column and the analysis is done in STAAD Pro.

Every Spacecraft/ Satellite has many digital subsystems which are widely used for a various kind of controlling and data processing applications. Field Programmable gate arrays are one of the most common elements of these subsystems considering the last minute programmability. Presently, One Time Programmable (OTP) and SRAM based FPGAs are used in the space programs. Once the functionality of FPGA is fixed at ground, then it cannot be altered in space. Re-Programmability of these devices would be useful to fix the bugs, change the functionalities or addition of the new functionalities in due time course resulting in extension of mission life. Here in this project the concept of the full Re-Programmability and partial Re-Programmability of SRAM based FPGA as a part of the satellite or space craft would be demonstrated. The concept of Re Programmability of FPGA devices in orbit is achieved using rewritable program memory, re programmable rad-hard FPGA devices and a self developed unique protocol as part of the main logic/program.

In this design study, the main purpose was to design a six shape micro strip antenna. Previous works are also dealing with the bandwidth increasing techniques by changes on the geometry. Some articles and applications are examined about micro strip antennas. There is a six shape antenna which operates in L band, but they do have a wider bandwidth. The development of antenna for wireless communication also requires an antenna with more than one operating frequencies. This is due to many reasons, mainly because there are various wireless communication systems and many telecommunication operators using various frequencies. However, the general micro strip patch antennas have some disadvantages such as narrow bandwidth etc. Enhancement of the performance to cover the demanding bandwidth is necessary. Among these standards, the following frequency bands can be mentioned:1) PCS-1900 requires a band of 1.85 - 1.99 GHz; 2) IEEE 802.11b/g requires a band of 2.4 - 2.484 GHz; 3) IEEE 802.11a requires a band of 5.15 - 5.35 GHz and an additional band of 5.725 - 5.825 GHz; 4) HiperLAN2 requires a band of 5.47 - 5.725 GHz besides the band of 5.15 - 5.35 GHz. Microstrip antennas are very attractive because of their low profile, conformal to the surface of objects and easy production.

Noise elimination from image is one of the most challenging and important task in digital image processing. Now-a-days, nonlinear filters are most extensively applied for removing salt and pepper noise from gray scale images. In this paper salt and pepper noise removal using different nonlinear filters are analyzed based on the restoration performance of the filters by undergoing various simulations in MATLAB environment on a set of standard images. Also the performance of the filters are compared in terms of some well known image quality metrics such as Mean square error (MSE), Peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and mean structural similarity index (MSSIM).

: The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 is an act that is implemented in areas that are declared as ‘disturbed’ either by the Central Government or the State Government under the Act. Once AFSPA is imposed in a region, security forces are deployed there and these forces enjoy special powers and immunity under the act empowering them to kill, arrest, search without warrant etc. This wide range of powers bestowed upon them is often allegedly abused resulting in abhorrent human right violations. This article talks about the origin, implementation and its abuse at the hands of the armed forces in the North – East region of India comprising of seven neighbouring states where it has been in force for more than 50 years now and how it has affected the livelihood of the inhabitants living there.
