Using data from a sample survey conducted in six districts of Assam, this study empirically examines the behaviour of tea garden workers of Assam towards the use of basic financial services. The study investigates the use of financial services namely deposit, credit and insurance among the tea garden workers by employing simple arithmetic tools. Our results reveal that, a considerable number of tea garden workers in the state have access to bank accounts; however, most of them seldom visit banks and use banking facilities. In addition, use of alternate banking channels is also very low among the tea garden workers. The idea of self-help groups is also not very popular among them. The tea garden workers hardly have any access to formal credit. Almost half of the sample is ignorant about insurance. Moreover, awareness about government-sponsored financial scheme is also found to be low among the tea garden workers.

ABSTRACT The research primarily aims to find out to understand the phenomenon of transition loss of the adolescents transiting from Secondary level to higher /post secondary level and to identify the extent of role of emotional intelligence, need level and stress resistance play in it. The research was conducted in the government school of Chhattisgarh of class X, to find the reason of Transition Loss -non-transition of students to class to class XI from class X / The research findings imply that transition do not happens for two main reasons: one for students who are not successful in class X Board examination and the other reason for students not taking admission and non-transition to class XI even after being successful in class X .This is due to due to academic and non academic reasons . The non -acacademic reason has a physcological lining. Research findings suggests that emotional intelligence , growth need level and stress resistance have a positive correlation with students success and transition to next grade , whereas transition loss have anegative correlation with emotional intelligence , growth need level and stress resistance. Non-transient students were found to be low in emotional intelligence , need level and stress resistance score.

Abstract: The Amhara regional state is highly affected by land degradation due to soil erosion, as such to alleviate the severity of the problem, SWC practices were introduced in different parts of the region including the study area. Even though these were implemented through wide coverage to conserve soil and water resources for improving the livelihood of rural people, the sustainability of these practices remained below expectation. The present study was conducted in Gubalafto district of Amhara region, Ethiopia; with focus to investigate the constraints in attaining intended objectives. Questionnaire survey, interview, field observation, focus group discussion were applied to collect the necessary data. The primary data was gathered from 154Nos of participants in total and the secondary data obtained from the concerned offices was also utilized. The results showed that 77.8% of respondents were in an opinion that there was the SWC practices in the study area did not yield the expected outcomes. Single factor ANOVA indicated that there were no statistical significant differences among the three agro ecological zones of the study district on the level sustainability of SWC practices. However substantial changes were noticed based on land ownership. The investigation facts indicated that, low level of awareness and misperception of farmers, low level of stakeholder participation, top down approach of government and extensive farming systems were contributing much and are responsible for the existing conditions. Hence there is a need to address these challenges for attaining successful results from the implemented SWC practices.

This paper proposes an alternative design of magnetic encoder for analog angle measurement based on Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network. In order to realize analog angle output, multiple linear Hall-effect sensors and a cylindrical magnet are used. RBF neural network is used to approximate the multi-dimensional nonlinear function between the vector of sensor values and the angle output. For successful approximation of the function between inputs and output, the parameters of the RBF network needs to be determined by training. Training data consisting of vector of sensor values and the corresponding angle value at various angular positions of the rotatory shaft needs to provided as input to the RBF neural network trainer. The RBF neural network with trained parameters can be used to output the angle value for the given sensor values as input. The trained RBF neural network operation is implemented using 8-bit microcontroller. With this design and implementation, the angle value at various positions of the rotatory shaft is obtained with sufficient level of accuracy. This design of the magnetic encoder also allows some flexibility in terms of placement of the sensors and magnet.

Smoothie was prepared using pineapple, banana, toned milk and spirulina. Pineapple and banana are rich sources of various nutrients including dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals. Spirulina is a micro algae consumed for its nutritive value and various health benefits. It is a rich source of proteins, vitamins and minerals. The smoothie prepared was evaluated for its sensory characteristics and analyzed for pH, total solids, sugar and protein contents. Spirulina was incorporated at levels of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 per cent in the formulation. Sample prepared using 0.5 % spirulina was found to be more acceptable. A marginal increase in the protein content was observed in the spirulina incorporated sample compared to the control. The intense flavor of spirulina resulted in the product being less acceptable when incorporated at higher levels.

The depleting of fossil fuels has simulated the worldwide search for the alternate fuels. As our country is an agricultural based one and large amount of land is available, production of Pongamia biodiesel will be more advantageous for our farmers. The Pongamia biodiesel is a perfect replacement to diesel because this is derived from indigenous sources and is renewable. But due to its high viscosity and lower calorific value it cannot be directly used in the diesel engine without major modifications to the engine. Hence in the present work it is planned accordingly to use the combination of diesel and biodiesel in the ratio of 80% diesel and 20% Pongamia (B20). The combustion of the engine depends on the flow capability of the fuel. With the higher viscosity, Pongamia oil fluidity will be less and this can be improved with the addition of nano additives. Further the investigation is planned to study the effect of Aluminum Oxide Nano particles as additive on the performance and emission characteristics of Pongamia biodiesel blend (B20). It is blended with Aluminum Oxide Nano particle in mass fraction of 50 ppm, 100 ppm and 150 ppm. The whole investigation is carried out in a constant speed vertical cylinder water cooled DI Diesel Engine. The performance parameters are analyzed and the results are presented. Aluminum oxide nano particles act as an oxygen buffer which improves the combustion results in increase the Brake thermal efficiency and reduction in the Exhaust emissions.

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Hemoglobinopathy is group of diseases characterize by abnormality all quantitative and qualitative through synthesis of hemoglobin. Hemoglobinopathies consist of sickle cell anaemia (SCA), Beta-thalassaemia Trait (BTT). In the world, they are responsible for the largest number of genetic disorders and hence are of great public health hazardous. In Yemen & India major concerned haemoglobinopathy disorders are sickle cell anaemia and ?-thalassaemia. Examination of 100 individuals showed high incidences for hemoglobin variants, HbS and Hb?T in different ethnic groups, the frequency being varies from 0% - 3% and 0% - 3% respectively. OBJECTIVE: To detection the prevalence of different hemoglobinopathies particularly beta-thalassemia trait (BTT) and sickle cell trait (SCT) and find out the incidence of anemia in them. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The present study screened 100 samples of students from Shree P.M. College of Paramedical Science and Technology Anand-Gujarat. Blood samples were initially tested by using an Automated Cell Counter (CBC), Peripheral Smear (Field Stain), Solubility Test. Samples having abnormal of morphology and MCV (?78), MCH (?28) and/or positive solubility test were comforted by Hb electrophoresis on cellulose acetate membrane(pH 8.6). Hb A2 level ?3.5% was considered as diagnostic for BTT and present HbS was considered as diagnostic for SCT. RESULT: Overall prevalence of BTT and SCT in Anand-Gujarat was 3% and 3% respectively. CONCLUSION: Study suggests that BTT and SCT is the most prevalent haemoglobinopathy in Gujarat therefore we have to do screening before marriage.
