 Abstract

This paper brings out the issue of poor participation of learners in classroom activities at tertiary level to the foreground. It tries to probe the reasons for poor participation of the learners in the language classroom. In order to find actual participation of the learners in different contexts using different variables the study collected data from the target group of students on their participation in the classroom activities. The active participation of the learners in the classroom determines the effective learning in the language classroom. The data collected using random sampling from 16 colleges from Telangana show that 20 percent of students actively participated, 46 percent of students participated moderately and 34 percent of students were passive participants. Upon inquiring the students and teachers and classroom observation it was understood that the poor participation is due to selection of teacher dominant methods of teaching. So, this study tried to experiment with the drama techniques for maximum level of student participation in the classroom. This paper shares the finding of the empirical study which used drama techniques to enhance the participation of learners in the given context. It also discusses the changes brought by the intervention classes. Finally, it showcases the difference between the pre-intervention classes and post-intervention classes.

 Abstract

River valleys served as the preservers of civilization in alternate spheres of the globe. Water forms the quintessential element in agrarian and human activities in Kerala, which formed a part of India, water resources originating from Western Ghats and flowing towards the sea was a favourable condition. This restricted the people in occupying the plane areas. Right now, there are forty four rivers in Kerala. In the ancient period, there existed much more number of rivers. Kerala's geographical nature is a proof of its existence below water. Paleo- channels and lagoons formed part of its resources. The floods were threat to our ancesters. These took away everything to the river or to the sea. Travancore has got plenty of rivers. At present, eight rivers are flowing there. Vizhinjam, a part of Travancore lacks rivers now. Gangayar, a small canal, which springs from the Western Ghats is the sole remains as part of historical existence. Yet another minute stream joins Vizhinjam near Mulloor. At present, the work of the international sea port is proceeding there. There are ample evidences in the satellite studies and deep geological studies of the presence of three big rivers in the Vizhinjam area in the past. Ground evidences substantiated the study. A bastion, in the form of the Western Ghats, exists amidst Kerala and South Indian areas. As we move forward to the southern tip of Kerala, in Trivandrum. It can be equated to a water bastion or an enormous water tank, which has the capacity to bear rich quantities of water. The water is being emitted out via various canyons. These gorges appear in the spot where the present dams are found. These spots are specifically Thenmala, Peppara, Neyyar, Pechippara. All these form part of Thiruvananthapuram district, in Kerala and Kodayar and Keeripara, in the Kanyakumari district. Water seeps out of these gorges, branching out to numberless rivers. These rivers ran their courses, formed tributaries and later co- mingled at different points. Neyyar, Pechippara and Kodayar dam locations are located in these openings, specifically at Thenmala, Agastyamala and Peppara. The rivers evolving via these openings established a network of water canals. Vizhinjam was one among the water outlets that moved to the Arabian Sea. Large quantities of water flowed into Vizhinjam Sea through here. Thenmala, a spot in the northern border of Thiruvananthapuram and Keeriparain, in the southern border of Thiruvananthapuram have a length of approximately 125 kilometres. The areas create a reservoir of water, above the Western Ghats, with its numerous outlets. They take the form of many rivers and flow to the Arabian Sea. They make its course in a zig-zag format, as a result, they join together at various places before they reach the Arabian Sea. These rivers are of much advantage to Southern Travancore. The fertility of the spot is certainly due to the river. This, in turn, hiked the production of pepper and other spices. The next advantage is that they ensure navigational spaces for boats. Those boats could easily pass through these spots. Luckily, Vizhinjam was one among such spots which can be reached smoothly with the help of rivers, across 125 kilometres of Western Ghats.

 Abstract

In present study tablets were prepared with three different techniques like direct compression, dry granulation and wet granulation and were evaluated for drug release. The drug release profile was compared with marketed product. Saturation solubility studies were performed for dissolution media selection. Tables with direct compression showed compression issues due to poor flow nature of blend. Tablets prepared with dry granulation showed slight improvement in the drug release. Tablets prepared with wet granulation process showed significant improvement in drug release when compare with marketed product. Full factorial design of experiments was conducted to find out effect of significant factors influencing the drug release.Sodium starch glycolate and Hydroxypropyl cellulose were found to significantly increase the drug release profile. Diagnostic plots were performed and were found to be satisfactory. The characteristic 2Theta peaks of Ambrisentan API were observed at 8.898 (94.16% Relative Intensity) and 12.320 (100 % Relative Intensity), while in formulation the characteristic 2Theta peaks of Ambrisentan were observed at 8.971 (2.90 % Relative Intensity) and 12.376 ( 3.35 % Relative Intensity). This indicates that the cystallinity of drug is decreased in formulation due to the formation of solid dispersion.

 Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a crucial technology for rapid prototyping because it allows for simple, quick, and low-cost manufacture. The purpose of this work is to overcome the difficulties faced by the industries in appointing 3-D printers as well as provide this model to the educational settings. This work also focuses on the methods of 3-D printing that businesses may use to save time and money when creating/manufacturing a new product that needs to be launched. We can also identify solutions to minimise the overall cost of manufacturing a 3-D printer. It is intended that the research presented in this paper will provide information on 3-D printers and its uses in industry and education. Making, storing, and delivering spare parts has long been a time-consuming and expensive challenge for spare part providers and their customers. Using 3D printers, several prototypes may be created based on iterative design modifications in a reasonably short timeframe and at a comparatively low cost of manufacture.

 Abstract

Since the 1970s and 1980s, remembrance and memory have been significant topics in literature, culture, and history. However, it seems that memory results from neuroscientific studies or psychology. Memory as a theme is a current attraction of the research. Specifically in literary studies, there have been various ways of dealing with memoirs in recent years. In the age of technological media, it seems that everything can be stored/saved and recorded, and reaccessed indefinitely. However, the memory of an individual in the artistic guise of literature offers a different view of meaning. In addition, knowledge of the past shifts from an individual's memory to external sources, especially after death. Therefore, forms of individual expression such as diaries, interviews, memoirs, and literary texts (especially autobiographies) have gained importance. This form of archiving is very important and relevant after the author's death. The texts, which deal with the past and historical events and record these events in writing, are constantly available, and over time the memories are further transferred. Therefore, literature seems to have the task of preserving and keeping alive the memories in autobiographical form so that the following generation has the opportunity to perceive the past and the extreme experiences of people retrospectively.

 Abstract

The kinetic energy in flowing water can be converted and fed directly to the electrical distribution line running along river or canal. The larger distance between distribution lines and substation not only causes reduction in voltage at nodes up to tail end of the feeder but also increases the active and reactive power losses in the branches of feeder. By connecting the electrical energy generated from flowing water to nodes in optimal way results in saving of active and reactive power losses and also improves voltage profile. In this paper, methodology for determination of technically recoverable hydrokinetic potential is discussed utilizing different software tools and mathematical calculations. The improvement in voltage profile and reduction in active and reactive power losses are determined using proposed methodology for optimal sizing of hydrokinetic turbines using genetic algorithm.

 Abstract

Education helps the child to acquire new skills and knowledge that will impact development in life. Kerala Secondary School Curriculum gives due importance to Science education. Normally the content selected is taught by linking it with its scientific value. Education in Kerala, give importance to religion together with science learning. Considering Science and religion separately, promotion of Science is considered as the duty of teachers in the school while value inculcation is considered as the responsibility of religious people. This responsibility sharing actually supporting the social life of people in Kerala. But the investigator as a religious preacher and as a Chemistry teacher was always attracted with the studies related to inculcation of social values and social skills in schools through the learning of various school subjects. If the Value Integrated Chemistry lessons are planned in an intellectually honest manner, it will help in promoting Social Skills in secondary school students. Here comes the importance of Value Integrated Chemistry Learning Package. Hence the present study aims to develop a Value Integrated Chemistry Learning Package Spiced with Holy verses for Fostering Social Skills in Secondary School Students. The investigator employed experimental method and the design used was pre-test post-test single group design. The population of the study consists of secondary school students of Kerala state syllabus and the sample of the study was 35 students from one secondary school in Ernakulam district. The findings of the study highlight the fact that the developed learning package is helpful in fostering Social Skills in secondary school students.
