 Abstract

It is necessary to design structures not only to seismic forces but also to suddenly applied shock waves. This has lead to various structural methodologies for safeguarding a structure against such sudden shock loads besides seismic loads. We generally design structures for loads whose magnitudes are much smaller than those caused due to a shock wave. Hence, such conventional structures cannot perform well under the influence of a sudden shock load, and are susceptible to damage. In the present thesis, a tall building (G+30) of plan dimensions 5m x 5m is considered. Each storey is 3m in height. The column dimensions are varied from 600mmx600mm to 1000mmx1000mm. The analysis is done using ETABS 2016 software. The structure is analyzed for shock loads, where the shock pressures are calculated for various charges and stand-offs using IS: 4991-1968. The non-linear displacement and drift are studied. It is found that the values of non-linear displacements and drifts increased as the charge increases and stand-off distance decreases. Next, the structure is studied for seismic forces. The mode shapes, natural frequencies, modal masses, displacements and drifts are studied. It is found that the displacement values are higher for shock loads (100kg at 50m) than for seismic loads in Zone-V. Pushover analysis was done by certain long hand procedures instead of simply using auto-hinge facility of ETABS software on the 30 storey structure to determine the ductility ratio. The ductility ratio is determined to be 2.194 for column sizes 600x600mm.

 Abstract

This paper presents, an advanced evaluating methodology that has been evolved and used to help the agriculturist to take correct decision regarding many features of Aloe Vera plant development process. Suitable evaluation and diagnosis of various parts of leaf of the Aloe Vera disease in the field is very critical for the increased production. The aim of this project is also to overcome the existing problems concerned with over use of Aloe Vera products such as colorectal cancer, diarrhea, hepatitis. To solve this difficulty we are proposing a prototype model with image processing. The genetic algorithm is helpful in finding the useful contents in succulent plant like Aloe Vera which is planted for use in agriculture and medical field. But the continuous use of products containing Aloe Vera is known to cause numerous skin allergies, skin eruptions etc. Due to these disadvantages there is need of suitable substitute to Aloe Vera. Those are found out with the help of genetic algorithm by giving different set of inputs like Aloe Vera, Turmeric to the algorithm and compare output of it.

 Abstract

The role of social network is to enable individuals to simultaneously share information with their peers. The communities meet in person or share ideas and experiences over internet. Unfortunately the social network is misused to spread malicious information which adversely effects the society. This malicious information affects the sentiments of people and also the reputation of social network. For example during 2016 election, voting polls were falsely predicted and spread all over social media but later due to false predictions it deeply affected the sentiments of the political parties. In this work, we are focusing on fastest growing social media profoundly known as twitter. To overcome the impact of the malicious information, in our work we propose a technique which is modelled analytically by considering reputation of social network and user experience to access, analyse and validate the information .The proposed system will be validated with respect to reliable tweets obtained which will prove that the impact of malicious information will be reduced by 24% compared to existing system.

 Abstract

Biodiesel fuel is an alternative fuel used extensively in diesel engines usually blended with petroleum diesel to overcome the ongoing fossil fuel depletion. Esterification process of organic resources such as vegetable oil or animal fats yields Biodiesel. This study has been carried out in a view to deal with biodiesel synthesis and its performance on a compression ignition engine fuelled with two biodiesel blends. It also deals with reducing macroscopic exhaust pollutants with a point of keeping emission level down. For the very purpose emission test series have been carried for all the biodiesel blends to know about the emission rate of individual blend. This paper investigates the scope of using biodiesel produced with methanol in the process of synthesizing biodiesel. Experiments were conducted on diesel engine with B15, B30, B45, B60 of methyl esters of Pongamia and Neem oil and standard diesel fuel separately. The performance and emission behaviors results were compared with diesel fuel.

 Abstract

Earthquake is one of the main causes building failure and it is unpredictable and cannot be prevented. From the previous studies it is evident that damage due to earthquake is more in irregular buildings than in regular buildings. In these days due to increase in population there is growth in metropolitan cities where the cost of property and materials are high. High rise buildings are more common in the metropolitan cities and many building will have irregular structural configuration like plan or vertical irregularities. The current study is based on plan irregularities due to which the centre of mass of the structure and centre of stiffness of the structure do not coincide with each other. The difference between centre of mass and centre of stiffness is called eccentricity which induces torsion in the building which is one of the major causes of building failure. In the current study three models of (G+30) storey buildings by varying the storey eccentricities are considered and linear static analysis, response spectrum analysis and pushover analyse are carried out for all the four seismic zones. Parameters such as storey displacement, storey drift, base shear and ductility ratio are noted and results are evaluated.

 Abstract

Filters are widely used in dealing out with signal processing and communication systems. The filters so used are digital filters. In those systems, assurances to efficient operation of signal are insignificant and that is why implementation of fault tolerant filters are needed. Enhancing technology make system more complex that include many filters. In those complex systems, it is frequent to have number of filters that functions in parallel. In parallel combination of filters, there apply the same filter to different input signals. In this brief, the idea is to show that error corrected codes (ECCs) can protect parallel filters in which each filter is the equivalent of a bit in a traditional ECC. When the number of parallel filter is large, it provides high fault tolerant to those complex system. The proposed technique uses parallel FIR filters which results in high fault tolerant and low-cost implementation.

 Abstract

PolyVinyl Alcohol (PVA) is a synthetic polymer used in wide range of industrial, commercial, agriculture and medical application. It is environmental friendly, water soluble with excellent emulsifying properties. They are biodegradable and hence environmental friendly. The PVA sponges can be produced by using large closed reactors and hence are suitable for mass production. The preparation of the basic PVA solution is by adding the surfactant, catalyst, oxidizing agents, and formaldehyde. For PVA sponges many surfactants and softeners can be incorporated in order to improve its performance. The resultant PVA sponge is open-celled, highly absorbent porous material with good absorption property. The PVA sponge properties are characterized and optimized based on temperature it can withstand, height of the foam, agitation time, pH, pore structure, pore diameter, structure of the pore, chemical composition and antimicrobial activity. This paper refers to the development of PVA sponge incorporated with antimicrobial agents that is degradable which can be used for multiple applications including medical and agricultural applications

 Abstract

By the virtue of blooming automation industry and wireless connectivity, all the devices within the home can be connected. This improves the comfort, energy efficiency, indoor security, cost savings of the home. Small and constrained embedded devices are used to remotely monitor the conditions within home and control the home appliances. In such case, power consumption and network bandwidth become a major concern. A low power device that transmits messages through a less verbose protocol is needed. Owing to the ubiquitous availability of WiFi, all the appliances within home can be connected through a common gateway. An overview of a light weight Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol is presented here. In the prototype, we attempt to implement MQTT on Raspberry PI, a WiFi based development board. Sensors and actuators are connected to Raspberry PI and a Mosquitto based MQTT broker is established for remote monitoring and control. The use of MQTT hence achieves the desired result with a lower overhead and at about a 93% faster speed. The intruder detection is an added useful functionality to the system.

 Abstract

In this study the abrasive wear behaviour and mechanical behaviour of glass fibre reinforced epoxy (G-E) ,Nano Silicon dioxide filled with G-E (SiO2-G-E) and Nano Aluminium oxide filled with G-E (Al2O3-G-E) composites have been carried out by using a rubber wheel abrasion test (RWAT) , Pin-on-disc test , along with Tensile strength test, Impact strength test and hardness test. Samples of G-E with 0%, 5%, 10% and 15wt% content of SiO2 and Al2O3 were tested under different loads and abrading distances. Also, conventional weighing of specimen, determination of wear volume of the specimen, specific wear rate of the specimen, and examination of the worn surface morphological features by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were done. The results showed varied responses under different abrading distance because of the inclusion of different wt% of SiO2 and Al2O3 filler loading. Further, the test results show that glass fabric reinforcement obviously improves the strength of epoxy and glass fabric- Al2O3 exhibits a synergistic effect on the wear resistance and reinforcing epoxy simultaneously. Further, it was also noticed that G-E composite wear is reduced to a greater extent by addition of the Nano fillers ofSiO2 and further more by Al2O3,selected mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, and elongation at fracture were analysed for investigating wear property correlations.

 Abstract

A decoder and encoder is vital segments of memory, for address translating and encoding. The extent of Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) transistor continues contracting to build the thickness on contributes agreement with Moore's Law. The scaling influences the gadget execution because of requirements like warm dissemination and power utilization. A Quantum dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is a contrasting option to CMOS.QCA offers higher speed, bring down power utilization and higher thickness. It is another transistor-less calculation in nanotechnology. In this venture propose a combinational gate based decoder and encoder using Quantum dot Cellular Automata (QCA) engineering. It gives least power consumption and region minimization. A communication system can be implemented as quantum dot cellular automata. Optical communications involves encoder and decoder that can be used to generate and recognize appropriate code sequences. Hence the design of encoder and decoder is done using QCA design which ensures decrease in power and region usage.

 Abstract

The structures which are designed and construct as per earlier code provision do not have satisfied requirements for wind velocity effects .Thus many of the structures in seismic areas are suffering from hazards. Therefore the new code provisions are made for such cases. The purpose of this work is to compare the analysis of wind velocity for different terrain categories. The aim and grit is also to make proper work guidelines that can be used in practice within the early state of the design of high rise buildings as well as to find the wind induced acceleration in the top floor of skyscrapers. The wind effect analysis is carried out for seismic zone-II and III i.e., Bangalore and Chennai. The program used for modeling and analysis is ETABS V 15. The structural parameters such as column axial force, displacement changes and story shears are studied. This paper concludes that the column axial forces of structural elements depend on the terrain categories. In this project work, there has been gathered information and method has been shown to evaluate the effects of wind velocity at early state design.

 Abstract

In the present study the soil samples from paddyfield (kalikiri Andhra Pradesh),Karnataka compost development corporation limited (KCDC,kudlu village,Bangalore) & spent waste from floating type biogas plant were collected and methanogens were isolated, characterized & subjected to growth under anaerobic conditions by providing the kitchen and vegetable market waste as the substrate the kinetic study was carried out. A total of 16 isolates were obtained from the sample. The morphology and phenotypic characteristics were studied by performing various biochemical tests which revealed that the organism were anaerobes. Biogas production was carried out by using anaerobic digester.Paddy field and Biogas sample showed maximum production of biogas than KCDC. But mixed consortia had a very high degrading ability in very short period of time up to 92.95%.
