Emotion can be recognized using different methods, among which the most commonly used method is emotion recognition from facial expressions. But this cannot be used in an effective way since persons can mimic emotions. Recognition of emotions from EEG is an effective method for emotion recognition since it cannot be manipulated intentionally. The proposed emotion recognition technique uses Support Vector Machine (SVM) for classifying emotions into eight emotional categories. A new emotional model is also proposed using Valence- Arousal- Dominance values. The proposed method is helpful in identifying the emotions of normal persons as well as paralyzed patients. Recognizing emotions of paralyzed patients will help a lot in improving their treatment and especially in providing music therapy.

This article demonstrates that EEG (Electroencephalogram) signals can be used as a biometric identifier to authenticate the person. The patterns of brainwave signals are unique for every individual and it is very difficult to use these patterns for person identification and authentication purpose. Although the brainwaves signals are much complicated to study, there are very little studies have been done on the brain wave signals based biometrics. The biometric based on these physiological traits are resistant to frauds in sensitive applications domains. In confidential areas like military organizations, government agencies secrete potential domains and likewise highly restricted areas, the biometric facility based on EEG signals can be very useful. This article represents the strategy behind implementation of EEG based biometric. Here we have achieved success in authenticating the person with the help of wavelet transform. We used 5 channels of EEG waveform as features to authenticate person. The classification results give us approximately 90% accuracy in authenticating individuals.

Investment casting is known for its ability to produce components of excellent surface finish, dimensional accuracy and complex shapes. Inadequate surface finish, hardness and excessive shrinkage of the wax pattern often result in poor quality of the finished casting. Hence, in the present study, an attempt has been made to produce a wax blend which could offer better surface finish, minimum shrinkage and moderate hardness. Experiments were conducted with different types of waxes namely Paraffin wax, Bees wax, Montan wax and Carnabua wax, varying their proportions and stirring time. In each case, properties of wax pattern like surface finish, percentage shrinkage and hardness were determined. An attempt was made to find out the set of input parameters, which could offer a set of ideal properties of the wax blend, using Taguchi method. The set of input parameters suggested by Taguchi method was experimentally verified and found to offer the set of desired optimal properties of the wax blend pattern.

Biodiesel is one of the biodegradable and renewable fuels, which is originated from vegetable oil or animal fats. Waste cooking oil biodiesel is a kind of biofuel which is gaining acceptance in the market due to many environmental and economic benefits. It can be used alone or in a blend with Diesel fuel, directly in compression ignition engines, without any modifications. This review collects and analyses published papers concerning the usage of waste cooking oil biodiesel as an alternative fuel in Diesel engines. It covers engine combustion, performance and emissions characteristics. Research results reveal that rapeseed biodiesel, either pure or blended with Diesel, has lower heat release rate, reduced ignition delay, lower thermal efficiency and higher brake specific fuel consumption. Carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter (PM) exhaust emissions are up to 60% lower, while carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are higher in comparison to Diesel fuel. This behaviour is explained by the shorter ignition delay and advanced fuel injection when using waste cooking oil.

Rehabilitation and strengthening of old structures using advanced materials is a contemporary research in the field of Structural Engineering. During past two decades, much research has been carried out on shear and flexural strengthening of reinforced concrete structures using different types of fiber reinforced polymers and adhesives. Strengthening of old structures is necessary to obtain an expected life span. Life span of Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures may be reduced due to many reasons, such as deterioration of concrete and development of surface cracks due to ingress of chemical agents, improper design and unexpected external lateral loads such as wind or seismic forces acting on a structure, which are also the reasons for failure of structural members. The superior properties of polymer composite materials like high corrosion resistance, high strength, high stiffness, excellent fatigue performance and good resistance to chemical attack etc., has motivated the researchers and practicing engineers to use the polymer composites in the field of rehabilitation of structures. This paper reviews fourteen articles on rehabilitation of. The paper reviews the different properties of banana fiber and sisal fiber composites and adhesives, influence of dimensions of beams and loading rate causing failure. The paper proposes an enhanced retrofitting technique for flexural members and to develop a new mathematical model.

The project is about the designing of a single wheeler self balanced car. The single wheeler vehicle would be able to balance itself and can be stabilized against any impact and in zero velocity as well. We used single heavy rotating disks with hub motors at the chassis to compensate the tilt of the vehicle and get it stabilized. An android device is used to measure the tilt angle of the chassis using orientation sensor. The data then is sent to a Bluetooth receiver that is connected with an arduino. An android application is developed which takes the angle of tilt of the vehicle as data input from the phone and sends a control signal to the arduino accordingly. Using the signals the vehicle is balanced by controlling the motor from the arduino which determines the tilt direction of the rotating disks. This vehicle is designed to provide the safety that single wheeler vehicle does not have during an impact. Our aim is to design a safe, cost effective and fuel efficient vehicle

,K.DINESH4 S.MATHAN KUMAR5 In recent days the demand for river sand is increasing due to growth of construction field. Hence the practice of replacing river sand with M-sand is taking a tremendous growth it is also inferred from the literature that replacement of M-sand produces no appreciable increase in compressive strength. This paper presents the fully replacement of river sand by M-sand with superplasticizer Master Rheobuild 918. This superplasticizer is helps to increase the strength of the concrete with less curing days. The studies reveal that the increasing in percentage of superplasticizer increased in the compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength of M25 grade of concrete in less days.
