 Abstract

Since there have been more terrorist attacks in recent years due to technological improvement, it is necessary to take into account the dynamic effects of blast loading, such as wind and seismic load. The primary goal of this dissertation is to analyse different types of building system response against blast effects and blast loads that a structure might be exposed to, assess its vulnerability, and offer recommendations to the structural engineers on how to economically reduce the impact of blast on a structure while still protecting people and infrastructure from explosion. Total nine different models have been analysed as per IS 4991:1968 code provisions along with other lateral forces. Conventional RCC system, inverted V-type bracings and shear wall performance have been studied through Etabs models to check behaviour against blast loadings, an analysis of a 30-story building is conducted, and the impact of blast loading and standoff distance on the displacement and storey drift is explored. First, a basic explanation of explosives and different types of explosions. To further explain the effects of explosives on buildings, the general aspects of the explosion process have been provided. Understanding explosives and explosion characteristics better will help us create blast-resistant building designs much more effectively. Both an architectural and a structural approach is used to highlight key methods for enhancing a building's capacity to protect against explosive consequences.

 Abstract

Background: Varmam or varmakalai is one of the special treatments in Siddha system of medicine and used to treat multiple ailments, especially musculoskeletal and neurological deficits. Varmam means science of motion and function of the life energy. Varmam therapy is used along with internal medications and external application as well. In Tamil Nadu, the practices of varmam possess various methods of manipulation according to the traditional knowledge. Each varma aasans (Traditional practitioner) and institutionally qualified Siddha physicians have unique techniques and methodology in their varmam practice. Aim: The aim of the study is to document the different approaches of varmam practiced by traditional practitioners and Siddha physicians in the management of pakkavatham, and mugavatham. Materials and methods: Five traditional practitioners and five Siddha physicians from Kanyakumari district and Chennai were interviewed by pre designed questionnaire and their responses were documented. Result: It was observed that, thadaval, thattal, adangal is the most common varmam methodology followed by traditional practitioners. Siddha physicians were using various varmam methodology such as asaithal, pidithal, thatal, thadaval, oondral, anukkal, enthal and karakkal in the management of pakkavatham and mugavatham All the Siddha physicians are advising external therapies along with varmam whereas traditional practitioners primarily concentrate on varmam manipulation only. Conclusion: This documentation is a preliminary level study and will help for the further research leading to standardizing all these points and techniques.

 Abstract

Teams are performance oriented and target-based association of individuals. It generally performs better in achieving the set target than individuals working on their own. The reason lies in its collective power to coordinate the work efficiently and bring the best out of each team members. Team members collaborates with each other to nurture innovation, creativity and mutual understanding, all the while attempting to reach the pre-determined objectives., but if handled inappropriately, it may lead to wastage of time, efforts and resources. With this in consideration, this paper attempts to enumerate the factors affecting the team dynamics, i.e., how the team functions. The paper also tries to conceptualize the role of Performance Management System in improving team dynamics. Performance Management System (PMS) is an organization wide HR strategy that is intended to mainstream the individual goals with that of organizational goals and continuously monitoring the performance to give feedback and rewarding the same. It would be helpful in gaining insights into how team management is accommodated in PMS and how it influences the team dynamics.

 Abstract

This paper is focused on a study of various biomedical scanning techniques of various tumors like brain, skin, cervix, ovarian, ovary, thyroid. This study also carry on various biomedical image types of X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, CAT, CAD, MRI, FTIR spectroscopy, Pap smear cytology and PET. The latest trends in biomedical image processing techniques, detection methods, and tumor area calculations of various cancers are also involved in this study. The accuracy, efficiency, processing time and quality performance parameters of SNR, PSNR, MSE and also the tumor identification using image processing techniques of noise removal, binary imaging, histogram, edge detection and segmentation are efficiently discussed. This study is helpful in analyzing the biomedical images and identification of challenges in this field.

 Abstract

Manipur is one of the states in northeast India which preserves a rich religion, mythology, various rituals, and traditions. The state has a different name according to the old tradition the state was known as Kangleipak, Meitrabak, and Poreipak. Manipur has three major ethnic groups the Meiteis, the Nagas, and the Kukis. They predominantly belong to the Mongoloid race. Meitei women are known for their unique roles and their status in history. Women in Manipur are known for their active economic participation as well as their contribution towards political reforms in Manipur. Despite the patriarchal society women, they enjoy freedom and equal rights with men. Women of Manipur play a very significant role in the economic development of Manipur which includes agricultural production, fisheries, and handlooms industry, and their contribution to the market economy is undeniable. This paper is an attempt to focus on the role and economic activity carried out by Meitei Women in Manipur. To carry out the research the exploration empirical and descriptive method was used. The study is grounded on both primary and secondary data.

 Abstract

Foeniculum Vulgare Mill is commonly known as Fennel. The fennel belongs to the family Apiaceae, a small, erect aromatic herb. Foeniculum vulgare is a medicinal plant which used to treat various diseases. A plant largely grown as a herb or for its fruit and valued for its Pleasant aroma, and abundant nutritional and medicinal properties. This study shows the use of fennel in the treatment of various diseases, such as cancer, fever, abdominal pains, flatulence, gastralgia, gastritis, insomnia, liver pain, mouth ulcer, Stomach ache & another purpose. Fennel seeds have been shown a potential drug for the treatment of hypertension. This is a well-known and important medicinal plant widely used in several indigenous systems of medicine for various therapeutic benefits viz. Hepatoprotective activity, Antidiabetic activity, cardiovascular, Gastro-protective, Estrogenic, Hypolipidemic. Fennel is also used as an antioxidant in the preservation of food.

E-business provides value chains with a high degree of organizational (outsourcing) and geographic (offshoring) flexibility, allowing firms to purchase intermediate goods and business services on a global scale. The rise of e-business alters the geography of work: information-processing tasks lend themselves to various forms of teleworking, whether at home, on the road, or in a coworking space... E-commerce is a subset of e-business, related to trade of goods and services. E-commerce is often defined as business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and consumer-to-consumer (C2C). E-marketing is one of the elements in the center of E-business. It helps bring customers near and helps understand them better, increasing the value of an item and enlarging distribution channels using search marketing. The research paper focuses on the study attempted earlier with respect to E marketing and identify advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and challenges.

Today, the world has seen the extensive acceptance of IP-based networking. This technological development is bringing about substantial radical changes, suggesting the Mobile Ad-hoc Networks as transformative as the industrial revolution. There are many challenges in the overall security and privacy aspects of the Mobile Ad-hoc Networks. Reliability problem is also a wireless link characteristic due to limited wireless transmission. Due to the broadcast of wireless medium packets loss and errors in the data occur. In comparison to the wired network the wireless networks are more vulnerable to security threats.

 Abstract

Motivation refers to conative behaviour that is characterized by willingness and volition. The main objective of the study was to explore the present status of the different dimensions of Academic Motivation of the school-going adolescents of Purulia District. The present study was carried out through descriptive survey method. A random sample of 1083 school-going adolescents were selected to collect the data on the tool Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) (Pintrich & De Groot, 1990). The results showed that in Self-Efficacy, Intrinsic Value, Test Anxiety, Cognitive Strategy use, Self Regulation and in overall Academic Motivatation the school-going adolescents exhibited high level of motivation. From the present study it might be concluded that the school-going adolescents of Purulia district expressed their high academic motivation in perceived competence, mastery goals, preference for challenge to their academic success and confidence in performance of class work.

 Abstract

Diabetes is caused by combined abnormalities in insulin production and action. The pathophysiology of these defects has been studied extensively and is reasonably well understood. The discovery of insulin represents an authentic breakthrough, characterized, at the same time, by contrasts, controversies and disputes among scholars, as well as by great disappointments, failures and hopes. The prevalence of this disease is increasing at a very fast and alarming rate and by 2035; 592 million people will be diabetic worldwide. Majority of diabetic people live in low and middle income countries and India is at second position in diabetes prevalence. There is an increase in the prevalence of type-1diabetes also, but main cause of diabetic epidemic is type-2 diabetes mellitus, which accounts for more than 90 percent of all diabetes cases. Type2 diabetes is a serious and common chronic disease resulting from a complex inheritance- environment interaction along with other risk factors such as obesity and sedentary lifestyle.
