There is a dynamic relationship between the concept of mental illness, the treatment of the mentally ill and the law. The Courts in India were mainly concerned with determination of competency, dangerousness, diminished responsibility or the welfare of society and most of the earlier legislations were also concerned with these aspects. After the takeover of the administration of India by the British crown in 1858, a large number of laws were enacted in quick succession for controlling the care and treatment of mentally ill persons in British India. These laws were: The Lunacy (Supreme Courts) Act, 1858; The Lunacy (District Courts) Act, 1858; The Indian Lunatic Asylum Act, 1858 (with amendments passed in 1886 and 1889); The Military Lunatic Acts, 1877.These acts serve as a background of lunacy legislations in India. In the light of growing political awareness on lunacy and mental illness the Indian Lunacy Act 1912 was enacted. After the Second World War when the UDHR was adopted by UN General Assembly the Indian Psychiatric Society submitted a draft Mental Health Bill in 1950 to replace the outmoded ILA-1912. Mental Health Act (MHA-87) was finally enacted in 1987 after a long and protracted course which was further replaced by the Mental Healthcare Act 2017. Therefore, through this paper an attempt is made to analyse the various provisions of the enactment and to understand how far this law aligns with the human right to mental healthcare in India.

This study focuses on L2 error analysis and L2 syntactic complexity analysis (L2SCA) of EFL learners. The study employs a cross-sectional approach to investigate the types, frequency, and sources of errors through the analysis of 25 timed-written samples. Error analysis is conducted to categorize errors related to grammar, syntax, vocabulary and mechanics, offering insights into the learners' interlanguage. Complementing error analysis, L2SCA is used to measure syntactic complexity by evaluating various indices related to syntax such as mean length of sentence, clause density, and subordination. Combining error analysis and L2SCA, the current study aims to reveal patterns of syntactic maturity alongside common L2 learner errors which would contribute to a comprehensive understanding of learner proficiency. Moreover, the finding will help inform targeted pedagogical intervention to enhance leaner proficiency.

This paper explores the role of HVAC in achieving indoor thermal comfort for occupants. The performance of HVAC systems is measured using the coefficient of performance (COP), which indicates lower energy consumption and higher efficiency. Indoor thermal comfort levels are determined using expected mean vote (PMV) or indoor air quality (IAQ). Building energy flexibility is achieved through changes in HVAC system operation and human thermal comfort. Single-objective optimization aims to lower energy consumption while still providing acceptable occupant comfort, leading to higher comfort but lower efficiency. Multi-objective optimization aims to optimize energy use with minimum occupant complaints, resulting in a balance between energy conservation and human-centric control, resulting in low operational costs and happy occupants. The paper reviews various optimization methods for HVAC systems, including data-driven, physics-based, and grey box models, and discusses the development of Supervisory and Local Level ANN-MPC for HVAC systems in various buildings. The paper concludes by providing an overview of various HVAC system optimization approaches, including ANN-based MPC and optimization research, and their potential energy and cost savings.

Fungi associated with seeds of five cultivars of rice were isolated by agar and blotter paper methods. The fungus was isolated from the contaminated surface of unmilled rice grain and identified based on their typical structure and basic characters as suggested by Barnett and Hunter (1972). Five pathogenic fungi, namely Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium citrinum, Alternaria padwickii and Rhizopus oryzae were isolated and identified from different varieties of rice seeds. The findings suggest that there is a need for proper storage of rice seed to minimize the fungal infestation and their mycotoxin production. This study also reveals that the presence of diverse mycoflora of both pathogenic and non-pathogenic fungi in rice seeds in ruling varieties and hybrids in Telangana.

Ayurveda and allopathy represent distinct therapeutic paradigms, with Ayurveda focusing on holistic well-being and allopathy emphasizing symptom management often with adverse effects. This review explores the intersection of these approaches, particularly in the context of fermented Ayurvedic remedies like Arjunarishta and Asava. Fermented formulations in Ayurveda offer benefits such as enhanced extraction of phytoconstituents, improved bioavailability, and extended shelf life, while reducing toxicity from heavy metals. Arjunarishta, a traditional Ayurvedic cardiotonic, incorporates ingredients like Terminalia arjuna, Madhuca indica, and Woodfordia fruticosa, and is noted for its heart-strengthening and therapeutic properties. Traditional preparation methods, involving natural fermentation, have been complemented by modern techniques to optimize efficacy and safety. Recent studies have introduced controlled fermentation processes using isolated yeast strains, which improve consistency and yield compared to traditional methods. Comparative analyses between traditional and modern methods reveal variations in alcohol content, physicochemical properties, and therapeutic efficacy, with modern approaches ensuring more reliable outcomes. Quality control and standardization are essential, with modern analytical techniques like HPTLC and HPLC providing valuable insights into the formulation's consistency and potency. Therapeutically, Arjunarishta exhibits significant cardiotonic, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-hyperlipidemic, antihypertensive, antimicrobial, anticancer activities and antioxidant activity, underscoring its potential as a multifaceted remedy. This review highlights the integration of modern scientific validation with traditional practices to enhance the effectiveness and acceptance of Ayurvedic formulations.

Upadrava is the stage of complication which manifest succeeding the disease. It might be Anu (Small) or Sthula (Big) but always progress after disease only. Those diseases which have not been addressed in proper time or not diagnosed properly in their earlier stages lead to complications called as Upadrava. Nidana which manifests Mula vyadhi will remain same for manifestation of Upadrava too. Hence separate treatment strategy is not required for treating upadrava always, it dissipates once Mula Vyadhi is treated properly. Prameha pidaka is one such Vyadhi which manifests as compilation of Prameha vyadhi or by itself due to dosha dushya sammurchana. If these Pidakas were not addressed in-time further leads to another set upadravas.

Postcolonialism is the academic examination of the cultural, political, and economic legacy of colonialism and imperialism focusing on the exploitation and control of colonized people and their lands. Numerous authors of post-colonial literature have made an effort to define their identities and present an argument in a new setting. V.S.Naipaul as a postcolonial writer, reflects India's culture, history, and ethnicity in his writings with different dimensions. It will be argued through an examination of his book An Area of Darkness that his worldview affects his strenuous relationship with his experiences abroad; how feelings of affection and enjoyment compete with colonial eagerness and blindness. Naipaul's approach towards India was deeply colonial in his work, An Area of Darkness which is the first part of his trilogy on India. Fundamentally, the postcolonial writings of V.S.Naipual unfold a sense of understanding postcolonialism which can be easily identified in his prolific writing of literature. The paper will explore postcolonial features like ambivalence, marginalization, identity, multiculturalism, racial discrimination, hybridity, mimicry.
