 Abstract

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculemtun) is the worlds largest vegetable crop and known as protective food both because of its special nutritive value and also because of its wide spread production. Tomato is one of the most important vegetable crops cultivated for its fleshy fruits. Tomato is considered as important commercial and dietary vegetable crop. Tomato is protective supplementary food. As it is short duration crop and gives high yield, it is important from economic point of view and hence area under its cultivation is increasing day by day. Cash Crops cultivation plays an important role in the agricultural economy of India. Marginal, small, medium and large size farmers of India grow vegetable for generating income and increasing nutrient in the diet of people. But limited research was done on profitability and resource use efficiency of tomato which are the major vegetable cash crops grown by farmers in Himachal Pradesh. Study was carried out in 2017-18 on the basis of primary data to know costs, returns and resource use efficiency of tomato cultivation. The study concluded that return per rupee (RPR) in tomato cultivation was Rs.3.57, benefit cost ratio (BCR) at Rs.3.25:1, contribution of margin (CM) at Rs. 368 breakeven point (BEP) at 1.68 tones/ ha. and margin of safety (MS) at 22.68 tones/ ha respectively which was highest to large farm category in both the cash crops and indicated that large farms are more efficient and have more economies of scale (net-returns) due to better management practices, sound financial position and efficient use of resources.

 Abstract

Social Entrepreneurship is not just about an architect who works with hapless saltpan workers/ marginal salt producers and helps them get out of abject poverty; or a businessman who sets up an enterprise around the skills and resources of the poor; or even a young scientist who brings fragrance in the lives of a large number of fisher women through his innovative artificial flowers; or may be an orthopedist whose innovations in artificial limbs change the lives of millions of handicapped poor. A passion to change the world, a passion to improve the way things were happening around and a passion to ensure better accessibility of the poor to the much needed services, a passion to introduce a sustainable shift to bring about economic equilibrium. Using a market based model that does not bypass the poor; instead treats them as valuable customers and consumers and not an object of their bounty. They follow best practices to bring about next practices and have vision to change not the rules of the game but the game itself. This key-note is about the passion of these change-makers, we call Social Entrepreneurs and their Entrepreneurship.

 Abstract

Skirted foundation is finding its way as an advance foundation technique for non offshore structures. It is one of the latest foundation improvement techniques. So far skirted footings have been studied for isolated footings. The studies done for skirted rectangular combined footing shows that it is one of the effective techniques of foundation improvement, for combined footing. The combined rectangular footing with vertical skirts all around the edges has been found to be most efficient technique amongst the various skirt locations. The depth of skirt also plays an important role in improving the performance of the footing. Assessing the depth of skirt for a combined footing is a challenging job. The Studied presented helps in arriving at the depth of skirt to arrest the foundation settlement and pressure even at higher load than normal.

 Abstract

Background: Autopsy as a word means self-study of dead body. The importance of lung diseases in Pathology and Clinical Medicine is well known. Aspiration of amniotic fluid with meconium represents one of the cause of perinatal mortality. Meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) described as respiratory distress in an infant born through meconium-stained amniotic fluid whose signs cannot be otherwise explained. Aim: To know the prevalence of MAS in the neonates dying within 24 to 48 hours of admission and with unknown cause of death. Materials and Methods: Present was a retrospective, non- interventional and cross section study conducted at Department of Histopathology and Pediatrics at a Tertiary Care Center, from July 2018 to June 2020. Total 42 cases of MAS (Medico-legal) were included. Results: Out of the total 520 autopsy cases, 42 cases (8.08%) showed MAS as the cause of death. 32 neonatal deaths were within 24 hours of birth (76%) and 10 neonatal deaths were within 48 hours of birth (24%). Male to female ratio was found to be 2.5: 1 with male preponderance. Conclusion: The histopathological diagnosis of MAS on neonatal autopsy correlates well with clinical cause of death.

 Abstract

Primary pulmonary hypertension and its management: A complete review Abstract Idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) can present at any age from infancy to adulthood and remains a progressive fatal disease. Right ventricular (RV) function is the most important determinant of the prognosis. Although there is no curative treatment available for IPAH, the therapeutic options available are pharmacological treatment with drugs, surgical treatment with lung or heart- lung transplantation and the newly devised interventional therapy includes the Potts shunt(PS). Potts shunt has emerged as a new surgical alternative to lung or heart-lung transplantation with prolonged survival and persistent improvement in functional capacities. This article will highlight the current status of different treatment options available for IPAH with their results.

 Abstract

Government of the people, by the people, for the people, sums up the definition of modern- day governance and puts in focus the necessity to fulfil the aspirations of the people. Fulfilling the commitment requires principled and efficient governance structure. Governance has the dual nature of being good and bad and therefore, impacts people, society and ipso facto the state. The subject of governance is relevant in discussing human security. The paper postulates that ethics and people centric governance are prerequisites for nation building and human security. The congruence of concepts of the science of administration of a pre-modern era (17/18 Century A.D) with the writings of the Arthashastra, establish the importance of characteristics and principles necessary for administration in any form of government. Cameralism is one such concept which placed people above everything and is a useful idea to extrapolate for administrative and economic practices of the modern society. The current pandemic encompassing the global community brings to focus the necessity of recalibrating the way we see humanity and perhaps restructure our priorities to the people rather than narrow selfish needs. The subjects of good governance thus go beyond the scope of ethical governance as a foundation for national security.

 Abstract

The origin of towns came into being as early as 6000-5000 B.C. but these were mostly based on Neolithic agrarian culture. Later on with the inventions of plough, wheel cart, boat, metallic implements, etc., and also system of watering fields ushered development and valleys of Nile, Tigris, Euphrates, and Indus started surplus food-grains production. Consequently, there evolved a s social organization in which certain strata comprising religious, administrative, trading and artisans communities could appropriate for themselves part of the produce grown by the cultivators. Such groups settled in towns to perform non - agricultural activities. In the river valleys, thus began a culture of certain groups who were having skill for writing, accountancy as well as knowledge of solar calendar and bureaucracy. There in the real sense town cult began around 3000 B.C. After this up to nearly 2000 years, the ancient urban process ceased. Early cities went into eclipse.

 Abstract

There are a lot of investment opportunities around us. We need to choose the best option for investment for attaining overall objectives. The Indian postal department is offering various savings schemes with high return and safety. It is the largest postal network in the world. It promotes savings habit among the people, especially among the rural poor. This study has been conducted to find out the correlation between the overall satisfaction level of the customers with some demographic aspects and overall liquidity of post office savings schemes. In the study, the dependency of the overall satisfaction level of customers on the safety of investment in various post office savings schemes has also been analyzed. The survey result shows that there is a positive correlation between the said variables. It also shows the dependency of the satisfaction level of customers on the safety of investment in various post office savings schemes.

 Abstract

To bridge the gaps between traditional miso scale modeling and micro scale modeling, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, in collaboration with other agencies and research groups, has developed an integrated urban modeling system coupled to the weather research and forecasting (WRF) model as a community tool to address urban environmental issues. The core of this WRF/urban modeling system consists of the following: (1) three methods with different degrees of freedom to parameterize urban surface processes, ranging from a simple bulk parameterization to a sophisticated multi?layer urban canopy model with an indooroutdoor exchange sub?model that directly interacts with the atmospheric boundary layer, (2) coupling to fine?scale computational fluid dynamic Reynolds?averaged NavierStokes and Large?Eddy simulation models for transport and dispersion (T&D) applications, (3) procedures to incorporate high?resolution urban land use, building morphology, and anthropogenic heating data using the National Urban Database and Access Portal Tool (NUDAPT), and (4) an urbanized high?resolution land data assimilation system. This paper provides an overview of this modeling system; addresses the daunting challenges of initializing the coupled WRF/urban model and of specifying the potentially vast number of parameters required to execute the WRF/urban model; explores the model sensitivity to these urban parameters; and evaluates the ability of WRF/urban to capture urban heat islands, complex boundary?layer structures aloft, and urban plume T&D for several major metropolitan regions. Recent applications of this modeling system illustrate its promising utility, as a regional climate?modeling tool, to investigate impacts of future urbanization on regional meteorological conditions and on air quality under future climate change scenarios.

 Abstract

The world has been witnessing an enormous change. The concepts like growth or development and advancement are taking place due to Globalization. Therefore, the organisations or companies are in search of new vistas to improve, motivate and to unravel the innate talents and potentialities of the employees of their respective sectors by which they can retain the best work force. These major changes are reshaping the modern world significantly for betterment. Human Resources Movement began to concentrate more on the needs of the individuals rather than the interactions within the working groups. The Human Resources Movement considered the worker as largely pre-motivated to perform to the best of their abilities. Later, it becomes the task of the management to set certain conditions whereby workers can meet their own individual goals and at the same time as meeting those of the organisation. Rewards under the Human Resources Movement therefore include a wide range of factors, such as money, affiliation, achievement and performing a meaningful job etc. The novice of Life Insurance in its modern form came in to India from England in 1818. Oriental Life Insurance Company which was started by Europeans in Calcutta was the first Life Insurance Company on Indian Soil. All the insurance companies established during that period were commenced with a motto of looking after the needs of European Indians were not allowed to avail the services of the companies.

 Abstract

The Doldrummers (1960) is a play by Asif Currimbhoy in two acts subdivided into a total of four scenes that deals with the lives of four Anglo-Indians caught in the meaningless struggle for survival which leads to their disillusionment with the society they live in. Colonial hangover persists which has its hold on the lives of these characters due to which they are unable to create their identities. Their inability to succeed in professional and personal life lead them to a feeling of frustration and despair. The degeneration that follows is the result of immoral life which they lead due to a lack of purpose in life. Currimbhoy has earnestly portrayed the life of shack dwellers living in the suburbs of Bombay with all its poverty and disagreements, its loves and small joys and has successfully portrayed their basic humanity. The play aims at studying basic human emotions and relationships.
