 Abstract

Exiled from their country, Tibetans as stateless citizens are facing various barriers in expanding their businesses. Access to only short-term loans is a major drawback to Tibetan retailers in sustaining and growing their businesses. This paper helps to provide the demographic profile of Tibetan apparel retailers and attempts to study the challenges faced by Tibetan retailers in detail. It aims to explore the reasons behind Tibetan retailers not owning online apparel stores too. 172 respondents were selected from four different regions namely Delhi, Bangalore, Bylakuppe and Mundgod where Tibetan population is relatively high in India. The research findings indicate that Changing Technology, Lack of financial support and Customer trust, and severe competition in the market are the major challenges perceived by Tibetan apparel retailers in not owning online apparel retail stores in India.

 Abstract

Among all the criteria required for a test, Validity is the most important criterion as it ensures that the test measures what it claims to measure. Hence all tests, especially the ones that make a major impact on the life of people, must undergo a validity check. Such a check will ensure that the huge efforts by the government in terms of test construction, and administration is justified. One of these major test administrators in Tamil Nadu is the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) which offers various tests that diagnose the level of applicants for various administrative positions in the civil society. In this paper the authors try to comment on the language tests employed in the TNPSC exams, and make a theoretical prediction of their validity. During this exploration, efforts will also be made to investigate into the criterion, content and construct validity of the test items.

 Abstract

In present paper we propose a general exponential ratio type estimator for estimating population mean of study variable. An estimator utilizing information on population median of study variable has been developed for improved estimation of population mean. The expressions for the bias and mean squared error have been derive up to approximation of degree one. The proposed estimator is theoretically compared with other competing estimators of population mean. Theoretical developments have been judged through the numerical study. It has been shown through the numerical study that proposed estimator performs better than other competing estimators which make use of auxiliary information collected on additional cost of the survey.

 Abstract

The teacher is the key person in any educational reform or advancement. The success of education depends upon teachers. Teachers along with scholarship in their subject also should acquire proper knowledge regarding their profession. One or two years training at a college of education is not an end to the rich experience he has to gain as a teacher but it is more a prelude. The professional training is of little value unless reinforced by further experience and training during his service period. In service education, a recent concept is now acknowledged as the essential requisite of efficient teacher.

 Abstract

The investigator has tried to explore standard of living of households and environmental pollution in Jay Mangala slum of Cuttack district. In the present research study, the standard of living is confined to economic condition, educational qualification, health and sanitation facilities, private infrastructure facilities and public infrastructure facilities in slum of Cuttack district. The findings of the study are as such: annual income of the households of Jay Mangala slum ranges between 30,000 rupees to1,20,000 rupees. Mainly people are engaged in unorganized and informal sector. No one of them are in government job. Hundred percent male households are literate only whereas 82.60% females are literates. Similarly 91.1% households are literates only. But none of them get higher education/technical education/professional education. Cold, cough, fever, malaria and skin infection are the main disease of the households living in Jay Mangala slum. They go to government hospital. They buy medicine from private medical stores. Most of the households have no toilet facilities living in Jay Mangala slum. The households live in thatched house, hut etc. Food is cooked by tripod stove, gas stove, kerosene stove. The source of drinking water is common tube well, common hand pumps. The roads to the home in slum are not solidified, enlarged and concreted. There is pipe line system for water supply. There is no street light in the slum. There is no electricity supply to their home. There is no proper drainage system in the Jay Mangala slum. Public infrastructure facility in Jay Mangala slum is very poor. The Jay Mangala slum lacks reliable sanitation services, supply of clean water, reliable electricity, timely law enforcement and other basic services. It is densely populated. The growing population in the study area puts pressure on land, leading to poor quality of productivity deforestation.

 Abstract

Semantic relatedness is a type of estimation that quantitatively recognizes the connection between two words or ideas in light of the comparability or closeness of their importance. In the current years, there have been critical endeavors to register SR between sets of words or ideas by misusing different information assets, for example, semantically organized (e.g. WordNet) and cooperatively created learning bases (e.g. Wikipedia), among others. The current methodologies depend on various strategies for using these learning assets, for example, techniques that rely upon the way between two words, or a vector portrayal of the word portrayals. The motivation behind this paper is a comprehensive survey Measuring Semantic Relatedness between Web Search Content. Furthermore, we give rules to analysts and specialists on the best way to choose the most important SR strategy for their motivation. At last, in light of the similar investigation of the looked into relatedness measures, we distinguish existing difficulties and conceivably important future research bearings in this space.

 Abstract

This study assesses the existing capacity in the country for foreign currency risk management, its findings generate knowledge in this area hitherto unknown. The study is of descriptive in nature and the sample respondents were 38. Findings of this study indicated an inadequate capacity among individuals/firms to manage foreign exchange risk. Consequently, this study proposes remedial measures to enhance foreign currency risk management capacity through training. Improved foreign currency risk management shall, it is argued, minimize losses and increase the value of firms.

 Abstract

Assembly line balancing is the method of assigning tasks to workstations so that there will be maximum utilization of human resources and facilities without disturbing the work sequence. Many exact, heuristic and other approaches have been proposed for solving different types of assembly line balancing problems. This paper mainly focuses on improving overall efficiency of single model assembly line by distribution of work load on each workstation by RPW method for same cycle time proposed in the case study without violating precedence constraints, in order to improve the efficiency of line. Accordingly it resulted in improvement of other parameters of the existing line.

 Abstract

Dengue is a remains public health problem since the period of Second World War and challenging as it is a endemic in more than 100 counties. Multi dimensional approaches are trying to control problems by controlling of mosquitoes, invention of vaccine, as well as effective medicines directly at the virus. Therefore, this study was under taken to access the knowledge, attitude and practices regarding the dengue in the Indian Thar Desert. Information was collected on pre tested schedules from the 514 (Urban 321 and Rural 193) respondents who consented to participate in study. This study found inadequate awareness, attitude and practices regarding dengue before the educational session and significant improvement found after the educational session. This study indicates that the health educational intervention is an effective tool for prevention and control of the dengue in community.
