Education and employment are considered to be the most essential thing as far as all people are concerned, but pathetically the achievement in these fields are very low in our state. This is a personal view. And here I am saying this with my personal experiences, because here I am considering a specific caste especially Scheduled caste. Since they are belonging to the backward category. Their achievements too are poor in these fields. The achievements in these fields determines their standard of living. They are living in some way but actually they were far away from the main stream in every respects.

For centuries women have not been given a proper place of their own, denying their rights and privileges. This resulted in the failure of their own individual development which leads to the lack of responsibility in most of the cultures. They have been treated as a class of oppressed people whose problems and voices have been unheard, while they remain subjugated and marginalized due to gender discrimination following the patriarchal construction of high and low, superiority and inferiority, self and other and so on.

Toru Dutt is a leading Indian woman poetess in English. She translated the French lyrics one hundred and sixty in all, by some seventy different poets-into English verse, which were later published under the title, A Sheaf Gleaned in French Fields. This book (which includes a few renderings by Aru also) attaracted the attention of eminent critics and scholars not only in France, but also in Englamd, and was reviewed by Edmund Gosse. Torus command of English language and the richness and variety of her poetic idiom are amazing. In fact, her translations are nothing but transcreation and reveals the force of her personality in its relatedness with greater cultural and literary heritage. For example, in the translation of Vincent Arnaults The Leaf Toru achieves a heightening of emotion, and communicates not only the original poets sensibility, but also her own. Torus ballads and legends are significant not merely as cultural and philosophical anthropology, but also as, what Cleanth Brooks calls in a different contexts a political or religious or moral instrument The ballads are interspersed with serious observations that suggest much profound thought and familiarity with the best expositions of the Hindu philosophy. In fact, the poet has used Indian myths and fables to illustrate certain moral laws which give final beauty to human life. Thus, the story of Prahlad yields a political and moral lessons authentic enough to constitute the fire and force of a revolution in all times and all climes. Legends of Hindustan are essentially romantic in the treatment of themes. The profusion of lyricism and humanization of supernaturalism link Toru Dutt with the English romantic poets like Wordsworth and Coleridge.

Deductions to the salaried taxpayers extended under section 16 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 have been there since the foundation of the income tax act. The reason for the same could be the existence of the salaried class in huge number since then. These deductions exist to extend some income tax relief only to the salaried class. Though there have been several amendments in this section, the benefit that it actually extends to such taxpayers is really a matter of probe. The reason is that the maximum amount of deduction under this section if all the required conditions are fulfilled, comes to Rs. 57,500 for a government employee (Rs. 50,000 of standard deduction, Rs. 5,000 on entertainment allowance and Rs, 2,500 on professional tax) while it comes to Rs. 52,500 a non-government employee (Rs. 50,000 of standard deduction and Rs, 2,500 on professional tax). This paper, thus, makes an attempt to critically examine the deductions available under section 16 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 to the salaried class and also make a few suggestions in the said section.
