 Abstract

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, emphasizes the prevention and management of diseases through holistic principles and the use of natural formulations. Among the various disorders described in Ayurveda, Pandu Roga, which closely resembles iron deficiency anemia, is characterized by pallor, weakness, fatigue, and diminished vitality. Iron deficiency anemia continues to be a major global public health concern, particularly among women and children, and is associated with reduced physical performance, impaired cognitive function, and poor quality of life. Although conventional iron supplements are widely prescribed, they are frequently associated with adverse gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, and poor patient compliance. Drakshadi Leha is a classical Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation indicated in the management of Pandu Roga owing to its Rasayana, Balya, and hematinic properties. However, the conventional Leha dosage form possesses certain limitations, including poor palatability, sticky consistency, difficulty in administration, and reduced acceptability, particularly among pediatric and geriatric patients. Keeping these limitations in view, the present study was undertaken to develop a novel gummy dosage form of Drakshadi Leha by integrating the principles of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics with modern pharmaceutical technology. The formulation was prepared using Amalaki Swarasa, herbal Kwatha of Draksha, Yashtimadhu, Shunthi, Pippali, and Vanshalochana, along with gelatin, superfine sugar, and citric acid. Five different formulation batches were prepared by varying the composition of the ingredients to optimize the texture, consistency, stability, and overall quality of the gummies. The optimized formulation exhibited desirable organoleptic characteristics, satisfactory structural integrity, appropriate chewiness, and improved sensory acceptability. The incorporation of gelatin provided the required gel strength, while controlled thermal processing and citric acid contributed to enhanced preservation, product stability, and taste. The developed gummy dosage form successfully retained the therapeutic constituents of the classical formulation while providing a convenient, palatable, and patient-friendly alternative to conventional Leha. This dosage modification has the potential to improve treatment adherence and patient compliance, particularly among children, elderly individuals, and patients with swallowing difficulties. The findings of the present study demonstrate the feasibility of converting classical Ayurvedic formulations into innovative dosage forms without compromising their therapeutic principles. Furthermore, the study highlights the potential of herbal gummies as an effective oral drug delivery system and provides a foundation for future analytical standardization, stability studies, and clinical evaluation to establish their safety, quality, and therapeutic efficacy in the management of iron deficiency anemia.

 Abstract

To study the clinical pattern of hyperlipidemia in non-dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease and analyze the prescription pattern, metabolic effect and drug adherence in these patients. A pilot study was carried out in 30 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) with hyperlipidemia not on hemodialysis, and those patients that are treated with antihyperlipidemic drugs. This study's findings show that hyperlipidemia is a prevalent complication among chronic kidney disease patients, particularly in the older population. Statin therapy remains the cornerstone of lipid management, with combined therapy necessary only in rare situations. The low incidence of myopathy and liver damage indicates that antihyperlipidemic medication was generally well tolerated. There is no association found between CKD stages and antihyperlipidemic medication use; treatment appears to be individualized according to patient needs rather than disease stage. Furthermore, the improvement in medication adherence following counselling emphasizes the importance of patient education in improving treatment outcomes and managing chronic kidney disease.

Psychology preparation is a component that has been often neglected by athletes and coaches alike, studies have shown that mental readiness was felt to be the most significant statistical link with Olympics ranking. Athletes have frequently been quoted to state how the mental aspect is the most important part of one's performance. As Arnold Palmer, a professional golfer suggested that the game is 90% psychological. "The total time spent by the golfer actually swinging and striking the ball during those 72 holes is approximately seven minutes and 30 seconds, leaving 15 hours, 52 minutes and 30 seconds of 'thinking time". Within the parameters of psychological aspects of athletic performance, it is interesting to note that more than 70 percent questions raised, discussed and debated at the international conferences and seminars on sport psychology pertain to anxiety and aggression as performance to the genre of emotions. They arise under varying sets of circumstances and form a sort of continuum but always moving upward. Their far-reaching consequences for the physical and mental health of the people in general and performing athletes in particular, are an open secret. Stresses result from non-fulfillment of needs; continued stresses create anxieties, and anxiety leads to tension. The residual effect of tension is felt, monitored and evaluated both physiologically and psychologically and is ultimately linked with psychosomatic disorders.  Abstract

Resisted harness training has gained considerable attention as an effective intervention for enhancing athletic performance, improving exercise safety, and facilitating rehabilitation. Harness-based systems, including resisted sled towing, partner-resisted sprinting, body-weight-supported treadmill training (BWSTT), lower-body positive-pressure treadmills (LBPPT), and supportive strength harnesses, provide controlled resistance or body-weight support to optimize movement mechanics and reduce injury risk. This comprehensive narrative review synthesizes published evidence from 2000 to 2026 on the biomechanical, physiological, rehabilitative, and performance-related effects of resisted harness training. Relevant literature was identified from peer-reviewed studies and critically analyzed to summarize current evidence across sports performance and clinical rehabilitation. The available evidence indicates that resisted harness training effectively improves sprint acceleration, lower-limb power, gait mechanics, balance, and functional mobility while providing a safe environment for individuals with neurological disorders, musculoskeletal impairments, and mobility limitations. However, its effects on maximal sprint velocity, vertical jump performance, and long-term neuromuscular adaptations remain inconsistent. Training outcomes are influenced by factors such as harness attachment point, loading intensity, body-weight support level, and training protocol. Although harness-based interventions demonstrate substantial practical value in both athletic and rehabilitation settings, further high-quality longitudinal studies are required to establish standardized training guidelines and optimize exercise prescription. This review provides an updated synthesis of current evidence and highlights practical applications, safety considerations, research gaps, and future directions for resisted harness training.

 Abstract

Gold has been valuable to humans of all cultures based on historical evidence. It is one of the rarest and most valuable metals humanity uses. Moreover, gold jewellery is the most famous and sought-after product in all human civilizations. In this context, its uniqueness in India is relevant on both social and economic fronts. Conventional goldsmiths mostly use traditional methods for making gold jewellery, and this knowledge of craftsmanship gets carried from one generation to the next through family practices. When the artisans' indigenous knowledge reflects India's rich cultural heritage, their engagement in this activity contributes to the community's economic development. However, this endogenous development needs external support due to fierce competition from private players, mainly using mechanization in production. Without government assistance for these communities, the corporate sectors can significantly preserve this art and the artisans through their "Corporate Social Responsibility" activities. A case study of gold artisans of the Cuttack district of Odisha has been considered to demonstrate the picture of their sustainable development.

 Abstract

Kerala's Female Labor Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) lags behind what its human development achievements would indicate. This paper studies how declining fertility, increasing life expectancy, and the resulting ageing of Kerala's population have developed alongside women's involvement in paid work during the recent Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) period. Using secondary data from the PLFS, the Sample Registration System, the National Family Health Survey, and sources from the Kerala State Planning Board, the study shows a fertility rate below the replacement level that has been sustained for over three decades. Although female labour force participation has seen some recent gains, it continues to be concentrated in rural self-employment and casual work rather than regular salaried employment. This pattern stands in contrast to Kerala's well-documented "gender paradox," in which strong capability indicators exist alongside constrained economic agency for women. The paper contends that Kerala is currently forfeiting a demographic dividend--one that cannot be recovered without deliberate policy interventions aimed at channeling educated women into quality employment.
