Background & Introduction-Ageing is an irreversible process; the effects of a sedentary lifestyle are very evident in most people due to inactivity. When physical capacity falls below the ability required for the performance of daily tasks, functional limitations and a loss of independence may occur. Hence aim of the study is to see the Effect of functional exercises versus conservative treatment on pain, function and hand grip strength in elderly Subjects. METHODOLOGY-This experimental study was conducted on 30 male and female subjects (aged above 60 years) without any severe illness. 30 subjects were divided into 2 groups, Group A was taught functional tasks exercise and Group B was taught conservative exercise for dominant hands, three days per week for total of 4 weeks. For the outcome measures, Hand functions was evaluated through Michigan hand outcome questionnaire and grip strength was measured using handheld dynamometer. Statistical analysis & Result - The data collected was tabulated and data analysis was done by using the IBM SPSS software version 26 and Microsoft excel was used for graphs .The mean and standard deviation of all the variables were analyzed. Non parametric test were used since the data was not normally distributed and the result were considered significant if p<=0.05. There was significant effect in pre and post mean values of functional tasks exercise group and conservative exercise groups on grip strength ,functions in dominant hand (p<=0.05) . But on comparing the mean difference values of hand grip strength and Michigan Hand Outcome measure score between both the functional tasks exercise (Group A) and conservative exercises (Group B), functional tasks exercise shows more significant effect in improving the grip strength and hand functions in elderly subjects. Conclusion- Both functional tasks exercise group (Group A) and conservative exercise group (Group B) have significant effect on improvement on hand function and grip strength in elderly subjects. But statistically, functional tasks exercise shows more significant effect in improving the grip strength and hand functions in elderly subjects.

Introduction: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an inflammatory condition of uncertain etiology that primarily affects the axial skeleton, but peripheral joints and extra-articular structures are frequently associated. According to the Siddha Classical Literature on Disorders of the Body and Mind, Yuhi Vaidya Chinthamani 800, the disease Thandaga Vatham, which is characterized by symptoms of pain, bodily stiffness, profuse perspiration, yellowing of the urine and feces, pallor, curving of the spine, diarrhea, and chest congestion, is closely related to AS. Case Presentation: A 23-year-old female, diagnosed with HLA-B27 positive AS, visited the Outpatient Block, Government Siddha Medical College Hospital, Chennai, with concerns of pain while walking, trouble bending forward, and restricted hip joint movement for the past six months. Discussion: The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI), and the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index (BASMI) have been used as standard techniques to assess the disease activity and quality of life of the patients. Thandaga Vatham (AS) was diagnosed, and Siddha treatment was provided for 48 days (1 Mandalam), which included Chitramutti Matakkut Tailam Peechu, Venn Kungiliya Ottradam, Thazhuthazhai Ilai Vedhu (external medication), Vatha Ratchasan Mattirai, Maha Vallathi Ilakam, and Agni Churanam (internal medication). Conclusion: Following the intervention, the patient's signs and symptoms were greatly reduced, and her quality of life improved. The combination of external and internal intervention with Siddha medications appears to be effective in treating AS patients. This study serves as a basis for further research projects on AS.

As A.K. Ramanujan in his essay, Is There any Way of Indian Thinking, develops the notion of context-sensitivity as an indispensable part of Indian culture. The present study will explore the context behind idiosyncratic Raas tradition of Cooch Behar. Raas is a festival of union of devotees and Lord Krishna. But Raas Utshav of Cooch Behar stands as a union of religious communities and they take part in the rituals and practices. This writing will explore the oral tradition and historic connection of Raas Utshav in Cooch Behar. Raas mela is the most ancient and traditional of all fairs in this region. Every year, the people of Cooch Behar get set to celebrate the Raas Yatra of Madan Mohan Thakur. Raas mela celebrations commence from the auspicious day of Purnima in the month of Kartik according to Bengali Calendar. This Raas mela was celebrated first at Vetaguri, then this festival had been shifted to the Modan Mohan temple of Cooch Behar. How this auspicious festival has come into grandeur and the history behind the festival will be the subject of exploration in this paper. The Raas-Chakra, a semi cylindrical like structure made out of paper and bamboo at the temple lawn is being beautifully decorated over generations by a Muslim family. The inclusion of the Muslim community in such a Hindu religious festival showcases a great example of communal harmony. How this religious amalgamation come into existence will be the subject of discussion.

Dengue mosquitoes, primarily Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus species, are vectors of dengue virus. The mosquito can be recognize by white markings on legs and a marking in the form of a lyre on the thorax. Aedes aegypti is a vector for transferring various tropical fevers. Dengue fever also well known as break bone fever. Dengue is transferring by various species of mosquito under the genus Aedes, principally A. aegypti Larvicidal activity of three plant extracts and detergent against Ae. Aegypti mosquitoes. The study found. That among the plant extracts tested (Garlic bulb extract, Neem leaves extract, and Tulsi leaves extract) and detergent, Allium sativum (Garlic) showed the highest efficacy against the larvae of Ae. Aegypti, while Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi) exhibited the least larvicidal effect. This suggests that Garlic extract could be a promising for controlling the population of these mosquitoes

Shakespeare's Hamlet, even though written in the early 17th century, has remained a favourite of not just modern readers and audiences but also of literary critics. The play's engagement with issues of psychological complexities and various other human concerns has kept it relevant even in today's time. Across centuries numerous literary critics have read and re-read the play and in turn they have tried to challenge the more traditional readings of the play which saw it as "old, barbaric, and wild". This paper tries to bring together the arguments of various critics and readers of Shakespeare and tries to challenge the more conventional takes on the issue of modernity in the play. Modernity in Hamlet must be seen in terms of Hamlet's own interiority and subjectivity. Unless there is a shift from the action of the play and a departure from the past, locating modernity in Hamlet or Hamlet is an almost impossible task.

Abstract Mulk Raj Anand, a pivotal figure in Indian literature, made profound contributions through his thought-provoking novels that tackled pressing social issues and championed social change. His novels encapsulated the essence of a nation struggling with colonialism, caste-based discrimination, and socioeconomic inequities. Anand's literary legacy, marked by deep compassion, sharp social awareness, and the voice of the suppressed continues to engage readers from the 20th century till date. One of Anand's most significant contributions was his vivid depiction of the apparent realities undergone by the marginalized and oppressed in Indian society. His novels revealed the entrenched injustices, highlighting the stark disparities in a society fragmented by caste, class, race, and gender. Through his compelling narratives, Anand illuminated the struggles, sufferings, and aspirations of the underprivileged, challenging the existing social order and advocating for equality and justice. Anand's focus on social realism, paired with his empathetic character portrayals, vividly brought to life the complex human experiences of the downtrodden. He delved deeply into the psychological landscapes of his characters, exploring their hopes, dreams, and frustrations. By humanizing the marginalized, Anand sought to cultivate empathy and understanding among his readers, prompting them to question and confront the social structures that sustained inequality. Moreover, Anand's works went beyond mere critique to offer voice and vision of hope and redemption. He depicted characters who, despite facing immense challenges, demonstrated resilience, dignity, vitality, and a spirit of resistance. By showcasing the transformative power of empathy, compassion, and solidarity, Anand encouraged readers to actively participate in the fight for social justice and change.
