ABSTRACT Studying Gender and Sexual Identity in Aaron's Prayers for Bobby and Lee's Angel - Dr. C. Lalrinzuala Guest Lecturer Department of English and Culture Studies Mizoram University This paper attempts to tackle a controversial issue which is relevant in the world today by studying two novels based on the lives of queer individuals. The topic of gender and sexual identity has been one of the main topics of discussion everywhere whether we want it or not. The side one takes on the matter is basically irrelevant while studying as a whole and as a culturally significant issue that is prevailing in every society. The rise of medical science ushered in a plethora of categories based on identity and everyone feels the need to belong in a certain category in order to "fit in" in the society. The categorisation is mainly done based on a person's gender and sexual identity when medical science attempts to classify people according to the heteronormative standard. What is the difference between gender and sexual identity? This is a question which a lot of people are asking and this paper attempts to answer the question by analysing the experiences of the queer individuals in Leroy Aaron's Prayers for Bobby and Laura Lee's Angel.

This paper deals with the oppression faced by the African Americans, and how they form a cultural group for music naming it "blues". Ma Rainey, a famous African American singer, is the protagonist of the movie. August Wilson's play "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" discusses the idea of theatre and related folk culture of 1886-1939, keeping Ma Rainey, an acknowledged singer and mother of the "Blues" (culture and expression of life). The movie is the biopic of the famous Ma Rainey. This paper focuses on the life of African-Americans and their struggle to protect their music and folk culture, inclusive of the life of the blacks which is expounded through their music.

A smart blind stick that helps blind people by providing them with advanced technology. Visually impaired or blind people are facing many difficulties around them. Using a Raspberry Pi-based blind stick system to give them an artificial vision to detect obstacles and easy navigation through the system for them. The main contribution of this system is to deliver a low cost efficiency, good navigation efficiency and text to voice aid for the blind person that give an artificial vision by receiving information about the environments statics and dynamics objects. Thus, Smart Stick comes as a proposed solution to help blind people in their daily life without the help of others. In this project we proposed a solution for visually impaired people by using obstacle sensors in blind sticks. This blind stick system plays an important role and it's like a third eye for blind person. To provide a smart electronic help for blind individuals, a smart system concept has been designed. People who are blind or visually challenged have difficulty finding their way around. The Raspberry Pi-based system is designed to give artificial vision and object identification. In this project, we'll use the Raspberry Pi to create a smart system for blind people that includes a camera module and a switch. If someone is in distress, the Pi Camera recognizes and sends a message to that person through earphone. The system is made up of the voice output is controlled by TTS (Text to Speech). The suggested system identifies an object in their environment and gives feedback in the form of speech, warning messages sent by earphone. The overall goal of the system is to deliver a low-cost, high-efficiency navigation and text-to-voice aid for the blind that provides a sense of artificial vision by supplying information about the environment's static and dynamic objects.

Fertilizer use is typically under the limited control of farmers. For the farmers to achieve higher yields and reduce fertilizer loss, competent guidance is required for the best use of these fertilizers. Additionally, there is a connection between rainfall volume and nutrient loss for various fertilizer applications after each rainfall event. Rainfall that is moderate and falls at the right moment can help nutrients penetrate the soil's rooting zone and dissolve dry fertilizer. However, too much rain can increase the possibility of runoff and the pace at which nutrients like nitrogen (N) which is quintessential, phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) which are crucial, manganese (Mn), and boron (B) that are present in the soil. In this project it presents nutrient recommendations using an updated iteration of the random forest algorithm which is based on time-series data to forecast the required quantity of nutrients for various crops by examining rainfall patterns and crop fertility. The method suggested in this project, comes in handy for improving soil fertility by providing nutrients recommendations for optimum conditions for crop growth and reducing leaching and runoff potential.

Remarkable technological developments in recent years have opened up new possibilities of improving public health care system. Developments in computing, signal processing and communication technologies have resulted in new diagnostic instruments with better precision and connectivity with computing machines, communication gadgets and databases. However, many of these technical marvels are young by age and not yet available to all potential users at affordable cost. Among the various vital biomedical signals that can be collected noninvasively, ECG, PPG, SpO2 and PCG collected simultaneously, can help in examining electrical (ECG) and mechanical (PCG) functioning of heart, efficiency of lungs (SpO2) and condition of arteries (PPG). This promises to give a composite overview of the whole cardiovascular system non-invasively. We propose to develop a portable multi-parameter, non-invasive biomedical signal acquisition system (which can monitor, store and communicate the above mentioned four biomedical signals) for regular tele monitoring of patients especially with cardiovascular complaints. The device will be easy to use and can be operated by a paramedical staff with minimal training. It will be low-cost, so that a large population can be covered using multiple portable units. The gathered physiological data can be sent to the monitoring station and depending on the condition of the patient, further instructions can be issued from there. We also propose to analyse the different signals gathered and find correlation present in them which can lead to a better understanding of the whole cardiovascular system and assist doctors in early diagnosis of crucial symptoms. As an initial step towards that, Blood pressure (BP) and Heart rate (HR) is monitored using the gathered ECG and PPG signals from the device. The reliability of the device for BP and HR monitoring is estimated by comparing it with a clinically proven professional automatic digital BP monitor.

This paper presents the recent advancements in affordable open-source hardware platforms that enable the development of low-cost architectures for Intelligent Domotics using programmable object interface or Internet-of-Things (IoT)-enabled home automation and security systems. These systems usually consist of sensing and actuating layer that is made up of sensors such as passive infrared sensors, also known as motion sensors, temperature sensors, smoke sensors and other sensors. These sensors, smart electrical appliances, and other IoT devices connect to the Internet through a home gateway. This project lays out architecture for a cost-effective smart door sensor that will inform a user through an Android application, of door open events in a house or office environment. The proposed architecture uses an Arduino-Mega board along with the API. Several programming languages are used in the implementation and further applications of the door sensor and other applications of intelligent domotics are discussed.

Industrial gases are gaseous substances released from industrial facilities. A large number of gases and mixes are available in gas cylinders, but the main gases are nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, argon, hydrogen, helium and acetylene. Industrial gas emissions result from the production of a variety of products and materials that are used in a variety of applications. Industrial gases are extremely dangerous and have a negative effect on anything or anybody exposed to them. Many employees in the industrial sector operate in a variety of departments including production, packaging, building, manufacturing, etc. They are in some way exposed to these dangerous gases, which have highly negative effects on them and occasionally even have fatal consequences. The sale or rental of gas cylinders and related equipment is also covered by this industrial enterprise providing tradespeople's tools and occasionally the general public. Even though they are frequently used for some applications, products like helium balloons, dispensing gases, welding gases, LPG, and medical oxygen emissions are harmful.
