Abstract
Dergaon Revenue Circle was established in the year 1903, under the Golaghat subdivision of undivided Sivsagar district of Assam. At that time, the area was consisted of 6,56, 445 bighas, and 2 lusa of land and the total number of 9 mouzas were there. Present Dergaon is famous for its historical remains as well as a developing urban center of Golaghat district, Assam (India). This paper has been attempted to examine on the socio- religious institutions of Dergaon and what is the historical significance of theese institutions in this locality.
