Slum dwellers are some of the toughest yet most vulnerable members of our society. It is of upmost importance to prepare development plans & policies for the up gradation of the slum dwellers in infrastructure, health & other basic amenities. Major problems in the slums especially in the large city areas arehigh population density, housing shortage, lack of basic amenities, environmental degradation traffic & pollution, poverty & unemployment & social unrest. The objectives of this research paper are as follows: 1. To study the theoretical ideas relating to the socio-economic conditions of the slum dwellers. 2. To study the measures adopted for improvement the living conditions of the slum dwellers. 3. To analyze the various neighborhood facilities provided in various slum eradication policies and to determine the direct and indirect effects of the same in the success of a policy. This paper brings to light on a conceptual note the background of the slums and with the various policies and schemes by the government and their impacts on the beneficiaries. In general the social and the economic conditions of the slum dwellers are presented with the aid of collected published literature & secondary data on slum dwellers. The socio-economic status of the slum dwellers is very poor. In most of the schemes that have been taken up by the governments in the various five year plans and the dedicated slum eradication schemes, very little emphasis was given to these neighborhood facilities, mainly in the implementation phase, which are important for the eradication or the upliftment of a slum. With better implementation and strict enforcement of the various plans and the policies, the poor living conditions of the slum dwellers can be solved to a great extent. Slum dwellers contribute a lot to the economic activity of the urban areas and play a major role for the development of nation which can be improved further. There is need to do better arrangements for the positive changes among the slum dwellers. Through this paper, an attempt is made to highlight the various schemes and the drawbacks in the policies and their implementation of the neighborhood facilities in the slum for the upliftment or eradication of a slum area.

ABSTRACT The Present study reports important secondary metabolites present in Ficus racemosa The Ficus racemosa belong to the Moraceae , it is popularly known as Glomerata, Cluster fig tree as well as Udumbara? in Marathi. Various plant parts such as bark, root, leaf, fruits are used as astringent, carminative, antidysentery, diabetes, leucoderma, antiasthmatic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant. The powdered Bark was subjected for extraction by using ethanol. These extract were evaluated for detection of various secondary metabolites, like Glycosides, tannins, Terpenoides, Alkaloids, Flavonoids. The preliminar phytochemical screening were done using various chemial test. The study show presences of Glycosides Ayurvedic system of medicine, Ficus racemosa is being widely used by the traditional practitionersin the prevention and treatment of diabetes over many centuries in Bangladesh. The fruit, bark, latex, seeds or leaves of F. racemosa plant have been reported to decrease blood glucose levels and improve .body weight in diabetic animals when administered in different pharmaceutical preparations and is, therefore, imperative to further investigation. The present review summarize data about phytochemical properties and biological activities of F. racemosa plants and provide scientificevidence for further development and utilization as a potential anti-diabetic drug.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, originated in the Wuhan city, China has spread over the seas so fast that the countries had no time to answer this call. The economies crashed, people went under lockdowns, harsh rules, deaths and all brought the complete earth and its operations to knees, with fear and uncertainty. In this aspect, when mankind was fighting for its survival, some of things, though very important like education became almost the last priority for quite some time to the people and gone at a low ebb. After monitoring the virus speed and situations, WHO and central govt. announced various advisories and a nationwide lockdown, as was being followed by many countries the world over. It was the first preventive step towards the COVID-19 to contain its spread from one person to another by avoiding contact and through the confinement at home. The education sector including Schools, Colleges, and the Universities thus, got closed under the mandate of lockdown. The lockdown effected the schedules of every students one way or the other badly. As per data on 27 April 2020, approximately 1.725 billion learners have been affected due to school closures in response to the pandemic. According to UNICEF monitoring, 186 countries have implemented nationwide closures and 8 have implemented local closures, impacting about 98.5 percent of the world's student population. Keeping in mind the state of economy and other key factors, the lockdown was later selectively lifted or eased out and measures were developed and employed to appropriately deal with varied human needs including education. In this paper, focus is on the social challenges faced by the mankind on account of COVID 19 and specially its effect on the education system in India.
