 Abstract

ABSTRACT: Traditional knowledge has two powerful advantages over scientific knowledge like it has little or no cost, and is readily available. Traditional knowledge is the accumulated knowledge, skills and technology of the local people, derived from the local interaction of human beings and their environment. The study was conducted at remote villages like Janukonda, Godabanahal, Pandarahalli and Talikatte of Chitradurga district with an objective of documenting the traditional agricultural practices adopted by the dry land farmers. Documentation of traditional agricultural practices was done by direct interview and group discussion methods. In the paper, some of the identified important traditional agricultural practices adopted by the dry land farmers are described.

 Abstract

As the bottom of the pyramid (BOP) segment has become a major direction for the organizations to expand the brand into the rural market. So, in order to attract the consumers in BOP sector, it is critical to understand their emotion, attitudes and motives because all these aspects help to building a brand image in BOP sector. So, this paper helps us to understand the implications of emotional behavior towards the branding on BOP segment and understand the dimensions of quality, product promotion and brand trust towards the BOP sector.  Abstract

Cyber-Colonialism denotes the aspect of imperialism on indigenous cultures, languages, lifestyle, politics, folk media and other native identities through cyber space. Corporates, and colonial capitalist forces retain the social, cultural and political cleavages in order to capture and control the global market for trade and tax. First portion of this particular paper centers all of its discourses mainly on 'Cyber-Colonialism' and its impact in online media. Various repercussions that the Cyber-Colonialism causes to indigenous and native people and to their culture are discussed and described in the second part of this paper. The third phase of this paper proposes ethnographic solutions for these online ethical considerations through an observational tool called virtual ethnography.

 Abstract

This brief paper summarizes a mixed method review of over 500 Science reports investigating the proposition that general intelligence (g or IQ) and multiple intelligences (MI) can be integrated based on common and unique neural systems. Extrapolated from this interpretation are five principles that inform teaching and curriculum so that education can be strengths-based and personalized to promote academic achievement. This framework is proposed as a comprehensive model for a system of educational cognitive neuroscience that will serve the fields of science as well as educators. Five key principles identified are culture a matter, every brain is unique activate strengths, know thyself, embodied cognition/emotional rudder, and make it mean something.

 Abstract

Marginalization is an ordeal that affects millions of people. Such marginalized groups of people have little control over their lives and are subjected to the risk of exclusion. This study is undertaken to discuss the issue of marginalization and its consequences on the African American people, a race who have been uprooted from their homeland by the superior whites and in the process denying them of their home and identity and being put through slavery, in selected fictional works of Toni Morrison.

 Abstract

Drug utilization studies provide basis for evidence based care decisions. In cancer therapy/oncology practice, safe use of drug plays a crucial role in reducing the disease and drug related burden. The prospective observational study was conducted at oncology department of Guru Gobind Singh Medical Hospital, Faridkot. A total of 100 prescriptions were analyzed. On analyzing the demographic pattern of cancer patient according to gender, the data represent that cancer was more prevalent in females (n=75) than males (n=25). In study usage of mono-therapy as management modality was observed in 15% of cancer patients while in other patients combination therapy (85%) was prescribed. Carcinoma breast was the most commonly observed carcinoma in the present study. Drug utilization studies need to be promoted and carried out on an ongoing basis. DUR is important to promote rational drug use. Its relevance to policy making and resource allocation needs to be emphasized.
