Despite long-standing research evidence for the effectiveness of psychological treatments, there still exists a wide reluctance to seek psychological help. This study aims to unveil the challenges in seeking professional's help among South Indians. For this purpose, the schedule for the Semi-Structured Interview was developed through 4 focus group discussions and validated with Subject Matter Experts (n = 7). Out of this process, 12 interview questions were developed. Through the purposive sampling technique, the data was obtained from 136 samples (68 males and 68 females) between the age group of 12 to 40. The responses were analyzed based on the gender and age group, and it was categorized into: opinion towards approaching a professional's help, the barriers in seeking a professional's support, perspectives about psychology as a profession, and insights about psychological illness and interventions. The findings revealed that 70% of the respondents addressed the psychological profession as holistic and realized its importance, but still 48% of the sample had a negative opinion towards seeking professional's help, the factors that contributed to the negative impact were labeling, the revelation of personal information, expenses, and quack therapists. Though the respondents were aware of common mental illnesses like anxiety, stress, and depression, they were not aware of the intervention techniques available in the present time. The paper elucidated a detailed picture of the constraints, limitations, awareness, and opinion toward mental health support among South Indians.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing the agriculture industry, empowering farmers to address significant challenges. From livestock monitoring and conservation to plant & soil monitoring, IoT offers solutions that improve the quality, quantity, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of agricultural production. Today's farms, regardless of size, can leverage IoT to remotely monitor sensors that detect soil moisture, crop growth, and pests. This information allows for smart control of connected harvesters and irrigation equipment. This project specifically focuses on monitoring soil parameters like moisture, temperature, and electrical conductivity. Automated irrigation based on these parameters is controlled by a microcontroller. The user receives text message notifications for any deviations from expected values, ensuring complete system health. Additionally, the project incorporates plant pest detection for comprehensive monitoring Greenhouses, controlled environments for plant cultivation, are another area where IoT can significantly impact. This project aims to design a simple, low-cost Arduino-based system for continuous monitoring and control of environmental parameters. This ensures optimal conditions for plant growth and yield.

There are different teaching methods practiced in all domains of education. Though we generally label any teaching method as pedagogy, its adult counterpart i.e. Andragogy is seen to have yielded quite good outcomes in higher education, particularly in professional courses. Here, the authors have employed two self-developed questionnaires, QASP and QASE based on Mallcom Knowles' six principles on 98 post-graduate students pursuing professional courses in various institutes in and around Kolkata. QASP tries to uncover their perspectives towards the principles while QASE tries to know about their experiences on the same dimensions. The results show that there is quite a difference between these two i.e. these students don't get to experience andragogy in their classrooms as much as they would like to. Dimension-wise deeper analysis reveals that five out of six principles are responsible for the difference while the sixth principle relating to internal motivation of the learners is not much potent in this case. Addressing this gap is essential to uplift the status of higher education in the country.

Abstract: This research paper explores the significance of Vipassana meditation, a mindfulness technique derived from Buddhist traditions, and its growing importance in contemporary life. The study begins by outlining the historical development of Vipassana, tracing its roots back over two millennia in India, leading up to its current recognition as a widely adopted practice. It explains the core principles and practices of Vipassana, focusing on self-awareness, insight, and equilibrium. The paper connects these ancient techniques with current scientific findings, examining how neuroscience and psychology corroborate the beneficial impact of Vipassana on individual cognitive and emotional processes. The paper also considers the potential of Vipassana as an adjunct therapy for mental health disorders, addiction, and chronic pain. Furthermore, the study looks at the social implications of Vipassana, particularly its influence on fostering community bonds, empathy, and social unity. It includes case studies from diverse Vipassana centers and retreats, demonstrating their effectiveness in overcoming societal barriers. The paper concludes by highlighting Vipassana's dual impact on both individual and communal levels, underlining its role in promoting mental and physical wellbeing, social harmony, and contributing to the overall advancement of humankind.
