Abstract(1&2): In recent years, several drugs have been developed deriving from traditional products and current drug research is actively investigating the possible therapeutic roles of many Ayruvedic and Traditional Indian medicinal therapies. commonly used as a spice is well documented for its medicinal properties in Indian and Chinese systems of medicine. It has been widely used for the treatment of several diseases. Epidemiological observations, though inconclusive, are suggestive that curcumin consumption may reduce the risk of some form of cancers and render other protective biological effects in humans. Its most important active ingredient is curcuminoids. Curcuminoids are phenolic compounds commonly used as a spice, pigment and additive also utilized as a therapeutic agent used in several foods. Some of them were obtained by reaction of substitution involving the two phenolic OH groups of curcumin while the analogues with a substituent at C-4 was prepared following an original procedure that regards the condensation of benzenesulfenic acid on to the nucleophilic central carbon of the curcumin skeleton. Various preclinical cell culture and animals studies suggest that curcuminoids have extensive biological activity as an antioxidant, neuroprotective, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-acidogenic, radioprotective and arthritis. Different clinical trials also suggest a potential therapeutic role for curcuminoids in numerous chronic diseases such as colon cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases. As a result of extensive epidemiological, clinical, and animal studies several molecular mechanisms are emerging that elucidate multiple biological effects of curcumin. This review summarizes the most interesting in vitro and in vivo studies on the biological effects of curcumin.

Superstition is a belief which has no basis to believe. It is a belief in the supernatural, which is to say, a belief in the existence of forces or entities that do not conform to the laws of nature or a scientific understanding of the universe. Especially in Indian cultures superstitions are common phenomena in our human society. Superstitious beliefs can have a negative and positive impact on the social well-being of people in society because they are highly associated with gambling behaviors. In this paper we estimate the impact of superstition on negative and positive aspects on the society especially how can psychologically behave the people through believing superstition. Superstition can be great lost of the people if they are blindly diving in this aspect. Also in this study will clearly analyzed the causes, demerits as well as merits of superstition and an attempt has been made to some significant suggestion. As methodology of this paper will be descriptive-analytic one. And required information will collected from different secondary sources like Books, Research articles, Internet, Journals, etc.

The most common behavior pattern of children with emotional and behavioral disorders consists of antisocial or externalizing behaviors. Externalizing behaviour consists of aggressive behaviour and rule breaking behavior. The present investigation is an attempt to examine the socio economic status and IQ difference in externalizing behaviour problems in school students. The total sample included 240 school students (age range 12 to 14 years). Externalizing behaviour problem and IQ was assessed by child behaviour checklist (CBCL) was developed by Thomas M. Achenbach (2001) and standard progressive matrices (SPM) was developed by Raven (1956) respectively. Results revealed that low IQ and low SES female students exhibit more externalizing behaviour problems.

In India, the caste system developed and is prevalent since ancient times and it remains as a great thorn in the growth of Mother India. Caste in Indian society refers to a social group where membership is largely decided by birth. This caste system became fixed and hereditary with the emergence of Hinduism and its beliefs of pollution and rebirth. The Laws of Manu (Manusmitri), refer to the impurity and servility of the outcastes, while affirming the dominance and total impunity of upper castes. The origin of caste system could be the functional groupings, called varnas, which have their origins in the Aryan society. Scheduled Castes was first coined by the Simon Commission and used it in the Government of India Act-1935 to refer to certain castes. Social change may be defined as the process which is discernible in the alteration of the structure and functioning of a particular social system. The nature and pace of social change are not uniform in each age or period in the same society. There is no inherent law in social change according to which it assume definite forms. It is difficult to make any prediction about the exact forms of social change.

Increasing awareness of the various environmental problems has led to a shift in the way consumers go about their life. Many consumers now display concern about environmental deterioration and are moving towards a greener lifestyle. People are now aiming to reduce their impact on the environment. In this paper, the researcher has focused on the youth and has tried to understand their level of environmental awareness, their perception about the 4Ps of green marketing, and purchase intention. An online questionnaire was used to collect responses from people across India. A total of 236 responses was tabulated and analyzed. The results showed that factors like price, availability, and product perception affect the green purchase. Further studies are needed to widen the scope of research in other areas of green marketing programs and strategy. Future research can be done for different types of buying situations or for buying decisions having different levels of involvement.

ABSTRACT: Mergers are the daily financial affair in todays world. However, it has set its foot to the banking sector only recently. This study intends to understand the financial performance of a public sector- Bank of Baroda and a private sector- Kotak Mahindra Bank. Secondary data from various sources are employed for the data collection. The financial performance has been evaluated based on ratio analysis, percent change and T-test. The analysis shows that there was major negative impact on the profitability, liquidity, growth of Bank of Baroda while a positive impact from pre-merger to post- merger in case of Kotak Mahindra Bank. This study suggests that due diligence should adopted in the identification and selection of banks to be merged to achieve desired synergy. Maxim for maximization, happiness such notions been the center point of economic theories since years. The happiness movement represents a new paradigm where social, economic, and environmental systems are structured to encourage human well-being through traditional indicators towards sustainable development. Happiness indicators are being used throughout world to collect data and the government is starting to explore their application to policy. The Himalayan nation of Bhutan has been a leader in devising and promoting an alternative development paradigm called gross national happiness which aimed to be a holistic approach in determining what, should be prioritized in order to maximize happiness for both individual and society. As the idea of Gross National Happiness shapes up, it is important for Indian policy makers to engage with it in a pro-active manner. This Paper presents and suggests a new strategy, which aims to explore relation between sustainability and happiness in order to promote sustainable development in India. It may help to explore importance and relevance of GNH in incorporation of policy formation.

Abstract: Decision making is a very important component of women empowerment. So womens decision making in various fields of life determines her position in the family and society. The decision making in the family on household matters, earning, education, etc. determines womens position in the family and society. But, this decision making authority may differ from women to women and differ from literate to illiterate women. So, the target of this study is to know the difference between literate and illiterate womens decision making authority in the family and society among the Bodo and Rabha communitys women of Baksa District, Assam. The methodology of the study is a descriptive analysis based on primary and secondary data. The primary data are collected from 320 respondent women from the district with a simple stratified random sampling technique. The quantitative data are analyzed in a descriptive statistical (percentage) method. The finding of the study reveals that though mild differences, but literate women are taking decisions more in most important areas like land property, education, household utensil purchasing, at expense of self-earning and payment to household workers than the illiterate women.

Literature is the mirror of the society; it reflects the realistic aspects of the life. The Gyanpith Award winner, Mamoni Raisom Goswami gathers the elements of her novels from the close observation of life and society. Her every creations and to reflect the reality as it is. Nilakanthi Braja is her second novel. In this novel, she penetrates into the psyche of the widows of the Hindu society. She depicts the duality of the sacred shrine of Brozdham. She glorifies the rituals, customs, and priests; on the other hand she does not forget to point the degraded condition of the Brozdham. This particular novel also deals with the tragic condition of the Radheshyamis. The character portrayed of Houdamini alludes to the exploitation of the widows by the conservative Hindu society. The theme of the novel vividly shows the consciousness of the novelists to the ills of the society. This paper adopts the analytical method to research the topic.
