Abstract of the Paper: Displaced Education and Revisiting Right to Education (RTE) in Phumshang Floating Huts of Loktak Lake, Manipur By: MamtaLukram ICSSR Post-Doctoral Fellow Loktak Lake of Manipur was included in the Ramsar List, of Ramsar Convention Record on 26th June, 1993. This lake bears socio-cultural significance to its people. The implementation of Loktak Protection Act, 2006, divided the lake into core and buffer zones. The Core zone is a no development zone, or totally protected zone. Backed by this act, several hundred floating huts were burnt down displacing many thousands. On 2nd February 2017, a floating elementary school (A Community Initiative Open School), was inaugurated inside the core zone. This school envisioned imparting education for drop out fishing community children, funded by Action Aid Asia. However, queries about effectiveness arise. Yet failure also put under question Right to Education (RTE).

Pedestrians are the most vulnerable and neglected road users in India. Vehicle crashes with pedestrian are almost inevitable and cause injury or death to pedestrian. In India, annually, around one-third of road accidents involve pedestrians as victims. The pedestrian accident prone urban road stretch A.B. road in Indore city was selected as the study stretch. A statistical model for predicting the number of pedestrian accidents from Vijay Nagar to Bhawarkuan (A.B. Road) was developed using simple linear regression analysis on SPSS version 26 software. Several variables such as vehicular volume, pedestrian volume, length of cross-walk, width of cross-walk, width of footpath, lane width, pedestrian signals, pedestrian crossing sign board, number of lanes were found to considerably affect the pedestrian accidents.

Ever since the world began, the significant, unique, and the most powerful dimensions of human life and experience is Spirituality. Across the nations, families, marriage, love, and relationships are nurtured by means of spirituality. It is believed spiritual beliefs, practices, readings, and writings have tethered, secured, and nourished families ever since the world came into existence. Spirituality, in general, is a broad concept that refers to the supreme, unsurpassable divine beliefs and practices experienced in our daily life and relationships as well. It is considered as heart and soul of the religion. The two words spirituality and religion are often misinterpreted allowing the followers to carry a blurred vision of them. Thus, it is important to distinguish the difference between religion and spirituality. Religion is an institutionalized faith system with an organized structure, set of doctrines, practices, and beliefs each community follows. It is widely acclaimed that spiritual writings provide standard set of instructions to the world in order to maintain their personal virtues, relationships, conducts, and family life. Nowadays, families began following multiple approaches to spirituality including religious practices, spiritual writings and so forth. The significant importance of spiritual writings in our daily life is that those writings become the part of our life as and when individuals start following them. In a nutshell, spiritual writings provide a deep-seated spiritual nourishment in the life of an individual thereby allowing individuals attain a balance between their social and personal life. The current chapter addresses the role of spiritual writings on concepts such as love, marriage, and life in general. It examines the impact of spirituality on the notions of love, marriage, and family with special reference to Kahlil Gibrans The Prophet. In a nutshell, the current paper analyzes the meaning of spirituality in socio-cultural context and its vivacious changes in a family life cycle. Based on the secondary literature available, this study aims to come up with unique findings. It is observed that with spiritual wisdom, individuals understand the connection between god, life, love, marriage, family, and relationship. In other words, spiritual writings will exert a greater impact on love, marriage, and family. And the spiritual lines of Kahlil Gibrans The Prophet on different notions such as love, marriage, family, relationships and so forth will have great influence on the individuals. Tersely, the detailed survey on the topic says that Gibrans The Prophet that comprises the idealistic spiritual and psychological anecdotes on all the basic aspects of human life, teaches an individual all life lessons that are crucial while living in a community and at the same time aids to lead a peaceful life on earth.

The term post-colonialism connotes displacement, destabilization and subversion of the pre- colonial life and cultural roots of the colonised, imposition of the culture of the colonizers upon that of the colonized, a radical change and transformation, formation of new identities and resistance against the cultural imposition and devaluation of native culture and adjustment with the alien culture etc.Now how to cope up with this impact of colonial culture by way of sublimating the native culture is a big challenge to a native writer who embarks upon a mission to write back. Narayan responds to the challange successfully by remaining non- attached to the complexities of colonialism and showcasing the potential of Hinduism as an operative cosmopolitan philosophy of life encompassing and adjusting all contradictions in its corpus. In this article I have undertaken to assess how Narayans The Guide is an exploration of how our native culture tries to adjust itself with the set of contradictions that westernization confronts it with. The main signifier of the post-colonial traits of the novel is the advent of railways that bring about a radical change in the economic and social life of south India. The traditional milieu of the place began to vibrate with the influx a new set of people and ideas of life .The railways facilitated access to the far flung and unexplored parts of the sub continent creating new job opportunities like acting as interpreter, tourist guide, military man etc. The winds of change began to sweep across the age old milieu prompting the Malgudians into a swift transformation to thrive in these changed circumstances. Raju changes himself rapidly by rising to the demands of the community and switching in quick succession from one role to another. Rajus transformation from a paper vendor to a tourist guide, Railway Raju, and ultimately to a fake saint, the transformation of Malgudi to a holy place where Raju performs miracle as a saint, Rosies elevation to a classical dancer from a mere Debdasi , Rajus marrying Rosies dissolving her marital tie with Marco and ignoring her position in the traditional social hierarchy , Rosies turning into Nalini etc all these speak for the post- colonial phenomena in the novel.

The present study was carried out to test the phytotoxic effect of mercury on germination of seed and seedling growth of pigeon pea. The seeds of pigeon pea were treated with different concentrations (10, 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm) of mercuric nitrate (Hg (NO3)2) solution. The germination percentages were calculated after two days (48 hrs.) and growth parameters like root length, shoot length, fresh weight and dry weight were calculated after seven days. In the present study it was observed that mercury at low concentrations (< 100 ppm) was found to show no significant effect on seed germination. However increasing concentrations of mercury (>100) decreases germination percentages significantly. It was observed that seed germination was completely inhibited at Hg concentrations above 250 ppm. Root length, shoot length and dry weight were found to be decreased with increasing concentrations of Hg (NO3)2. The inhibitory effect of mercury on shoot and root of seedling was more pronounced at 200 ppm.
