 Abstract

Abstract: Socio-economic condition is an important indicator to measure the level of development of any region. Indicators, such as sex ratio, literacy rate, educational enrolment, work participation rate are considered as vital factors of development. Among these, literacy rate is an indispensible indicator behind the development. To achieve skills for improving economy and general well being, literacy acts as an important tool. But gender disparity always hinders socio-economic growth. In spite of that, Sahapur Gram panchayat has very large gender gap regarding educational status. This paper is an important attempt to analyse the educational disparity among male and female population of Sahapur Gram Panchayat, Howrah District. This study area is located in Panchla Block of Howrah District, West Bengal. Satellite image (Resourcesat-2; LISS-3, band 4) is used to identify the location and statistical methods are applied to assess the Gender discrimination. It should be our prime concern to overcome from these disparities between male and female through various awareness programme organized by Government and also by non- governmental agencies. Then we can achieve bias less complete development in true sense.

 Abstract

Abstract: As per Census 2011, the workforce participation rate at all India level was 25.51 percent for females and 53.26% for males. This reflects the low economic participation and poor economic status of women in India even after several years of independence. For socio-economic empowerment of women, provision of finance at easy terms and conditions is necessary. In spite of several reformations in the banking sectors such as Nationalization of Banks, the establishment of Regional Rural Banks etc, banks failed to meet the small financial needs of people especially women due to problems of recovery and high transaction cost. Hence, the need for alternative credit delivery mechanism was felt in 1980 and in 1992, an initiation was taken by NABARD to introduce Micro-finance Programme. RBI has supported in the implementation of the programme by giving guidelines to banks to consider this programme as part of their mainstream credit operations both at policy and implementation levels. Micro-finance is believed to be one of such tools which take care of the financial needs of poor and of women who were excluded before by the banks in the provision of the loan. The benefit of this programme can be extended to women extensively if adequate efforts are made by all banking sectors to implement the programme. Therefore an attempt is made in this paper to understand the comparative roles played by the banking sectors in the empowerment of women by implementing the micro-finance programme.

 Abstract

This work reports a novel SOI MESFET including silicon N-type and P-type well inside the drift and buried oxide regions. The drift-diffusion equations along with the main physical models such as impact ionization, Shockley-Read-Hall and self-heating effect are carefully solved inside the structures. Modification of the potential profile occurs in the channel region and results in decrease in peak electric field. Output power density is successfully boosted owing to improved driving current and breakdown voltage, simultaneously. In addition self-heating effect is alleviated in the proposed structure due to decreased effective thermal resistance of the channel region. Comprehensive DC and AC performance comparisons show that the proposed device promises a more reliable candidate than the conventional SOI structure for high voltage applications.

 Abstract

The purpose of the present paper is to study the correlation between prosocial behaviour and self -esteem among young adults. Prosocial behaviour is a wide series of actions that are intended to help one or more people other than oneself, behaviour including helping, sharing, and cooperation and comforting. Self-esteem is the feeling of self-worth; it is the positive or negative evaluations which one makes about them. Prosocial behaviour stands as an important aspect in the lives of young adults as it helps them to stay linked with the world and maintain their self-esteem. On the other hand, self-esteem too adds an essence in the phase of young adults. The study is about how prosocial behaviour and self-esteem, both being substantial aspects for young adults, are related. The sample used for this study comprises of 50 subjects in the age group of 18-25 years. The tools used for this study are- The Helping Attitude Scale (HAS) developed by G. Nickell (1998) and Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES) developed by Morris Rosenberg (1956). The findings of this study show that prosocial behaviour is positively correlated with self-esteem, the degree of correlation being 0.31.

 Abstract

The huge amount of data continuously generated in the world every day and it is a very difficult task of extracting meaningful information from a large amount of data, fetching meaningful information from raw data is challenging task. Data mining is done basically for fetching valuable information from a large amount of data. There are numerous research fields related to data mining are text mining, web mining, sequential pattern mining, medical mining, multimedia mining, structural mining, and graph mining. Text mining nowadays very emerging research area, it is the process of mining meaningful and valuable information from a textual document. Preprocessing is the crucial step in text mining or data mining. Preprocessing of raw data includes removal of missing values and discretization. Missing values can be handled by replacing missing value technique and by deletion method. Discretization responsible for converting continuous attributes into intervals and relating each interval with some specific data value and it is handled by the binning method like equal width binning, equal frequency binning and by entropy-based discretization method. It may be supervised or unsupervised but doing discretization sometimes responsible for the loss of information.
