Historically depicted as a demoness in the Ramayana, Surpanakha has been recast in recent literary works as a complex figure whose portrayal sheds light on modern attitudes towards gender and morality. By analyzing Lanka's Princess by Kavita Kane, who has been instrumental in redefining previously marginalized female characters, this research investigates the shift from a one-dimensional villain to a multifaceted woman endowed with agency and depth.
