Self-assessment is unique in today's standards-based educational environment since it has the potential to improve student engagement and learning. Students need to self-evaluate more than ever to build the critical thinking skills and information necessary to excel in both school and life. This article will address the need for self-assessment and how it helps with learning. The paper opens with a detailed explanation of student self-assessment, which then proceeds with a discussion of the advantages and uses of student self-assessment. To further bolster the beneficial benefits of student assessment in the classroom, it also aims to comprehend how both teachers and students perceive self-assessment.
