  Abstract


In this paper we have designed a Circular microstrip patch antenna operating at 5GHz using FEM based EM simulator software - Ansys HFSS v15.0 The circular patch antenna is designed on a FR4 substrate with di electric constant & 4.4 and height of the substrate is 1.6mm. Several antenna characteristics such as return loss, radiation pattern, percentage bandwidth, directivity, antenna gain, radiation efficiency etc. are studied. The designed circular patch antenna shows return loss value well below -30dB and a percentage bandwidth equal to 3.79% is achieved.
