Abstract
Social media platforms have played a significant role in the Egyptian revolution since 2011. After the Arab spring it was obvious that social media can be used as an important instrument to change not only societies but also countries. (Hamanaka, 2018) The change that occurred because of social media platforms, especially Facebook, was not only on the political side but also it was on the economic and social side. There is a massive rise in the number of social media users since the time of the revolution. In 2011 the number of social media users in Egypt was 4.7 million and there were only half a million active users on twitter (Halawa, 2015). In 2020 Egypt has 42 million active users on social media platforms (Project, 2000).
