As of 29 SEP.2020, India has recorded 61,45,291 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 96,318 1.57% deaths. People have deceased to the infection while 51,01,397 have recovered. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Yet India�s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 83.01%. Globally, as of 29 SEP.2020, there have been 3,30,34,598 confirmed cases of COVID-19, across 235 Countries, areas, territories which have led to 99,63,342 confirmed deaths, reported to World Health Organization. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Older adults are consistently reported to be more vulnerable to COVID-19. According to the Centre for disease control and Prevention (CDC), older adults with COVID-19 are more likely to be hospitalized (31-59%) and die of it (4-11%). This risk is much higher in older adults above the age of 85 years.
