The genusFicus (Family-Moraceae) is commonly known for its religious status in Indiabut its medicinal values are familiar throughout the world. The medicinal aspects of Ficus plant are well known in ayurveda, homeopathic and other medicinal system. Since, every part of Ficus tree such as roots, stem, bark, latexand leavespossesses aesthetic propertiesand the specific phytochemical constituents including lanosterol, sigmastrol, sitosterol, kaempferol, quercetin, myricetin, bergapten, bergaptol, leucoanthocyanin, lupeol, psoralen, friedelin, rutin, taraxosterol, saponins, monoterpenes and other pharmaceutical product used to cure skin diseses, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, joint pains, ear problems, gastro-intestinal disease, piles, menorrhagia, healing and curative wounds,boils and mumps,constipation,respiratory problems, fibrositis, sprains, hepatic and gastovascular disorders considerably from last few decades.Medicinal system achieved a great progress in exploration on medicinal properties of Ficus species. Fruits of some Ficus species is edible from ancient civilization and also leveraging intribal communities.
