Mothers� health and child immunization always grabs the attention as these directly affect the economy in the form of human capital. The United Nations also focused on the achievement of these factors setting targets in the Millennium Development Goals. In India health is a phenomenon controlled by both the centre and the states. Though there is a central effort to develop the health status but there exists a regional variations, owing to the differences among the states. There are many factors that affect the health status in an economy. Mothers� health and child immunisation are very closely related as mother is the direct care giver to the children. An unhealthy mother is supposed to lack behind in taking care of her health as well her children, which ultimately pulling down the immunization level also. Maternal and child health care utilization depend on many health as well as non-health related factors. The empirical studies show that the efficient utilization of the health services are influenced by many socio-economic and demographic factors. This paper aims to provide a brief discussion about the empirical studies which show that there exist variation in efficient utilization of the health services and the factors that influence this variations.
