Abstract
Famer suicides are on the rise due to failed crops and over 70% of
India�s population depends on farming for their livelihood. Since
farming inherently depends on a lot of external factors, accessible
and affordable insurance becomes crucial. But traditional
insurance can be expensive and famers don�t trust the traditional
insurers due to a history of delayed or absent claims. A secure, fair and quick system that ranges from underwriting new
policies to automated claims settlement will greatly increase the
efficiency and increase the adoption rate due to increased trust in
the system. Automating the complete process will reduce the time
and cost of processing at each stage significantly. This savings in
expenditure can then be utilized to provide cheaper policies and
greater coverage which is a big win-win for the industry.
