Abstract
Munshi Premchand is the author representing the entire Indian literature, who through his literature
has glorified not only Hindi fiction but also the entire Indian literature. While it is believed that literature
is created for entertainment, Premchand portrays reality in his literature. They stand on the concrete
ground of reality and present the truth of life which prevails in the society. His literature narrates the
saga of Indian public life. Godan is such a compassionate story of an Indian farmer that is relevant even
after ages. This novel is an epoch-making masterpiece. Literature and society have its reflection in its
fullness in this novel. Every aspect of life is depicted in this novel.
