  Abstract

ABSTRACT: To find out the effect of active cycle breathing technique along with incentive spirometry in patients with moderate COPD. 2. To find out the effect of active cycle breathing technique along with acapella in patients with moderate COPD. 3. To find out the effect of active cycle breathing technique along with incentive spirometry versus active cycle breathing technique along with acapella in patients with moderate COPD. METHODOLOGY: Study Design: Pre-test and post-test experimental study design. Study Setting: The study was conducted at Department of Pulmonology, Saveetha college and Hospital, thandalam. Study Duration: Study duration was 9 months and individual treatment duration was 4 weeks. Sample Method: By using simple random sampling method, 40 patients with mild to moderate COPD were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria and divided randomly into two experimental groups, CONCLUSION: 1. there is significant improvement of Perceived exertion rate in both the groups. 2. There is significant improvement of Peak expiratory flow rate in both the groups. 3. When the Peak expiratory flow rate of group A and group B are compared the result showed less significant difference. 4. When the Rate of perceived exertion of group A and group B are compared the result showed less significant difference. So, this study concludes that there is less significant difference in the effect comparing Active cycle breathing technique along with Spirometry and Active cycle breathing technique along with Acapella. Even though both groups has shown improvements within the groups in the Peak expiratory flow rate and Perceived exertion rate.
